Chapter 860: Are You Excited Now?!

All of the wild pet beasts nearby, none of which had the kind of physique to go without sleep, were wide awake, looking energized, as if they had been bathed in Healing Light. None of them closed their eyes…

Qiao Sang swept her gaze across the surrounding wild pet beasts. She picked up her pet beast identifier, set it to mute, and scanned the ones she didn’t recognize.

Time was precious, filling in even a little more knowledge was worth it…

“Armor?”

Suddenly, the Water Carapace Warrior, who had been silently standing at the side, let out a deep call.

Hey, what’s with you? That’s not how your voice sounded before… Qiao Sang turned to look at him, and found him staring right at her.

They looked at each other for two seconds, then Qiao Sang said: “Little Treasure, translate.”

“Xun xun…”

Little Treasure withdrew his envious gaze from Lubao, floated over beside his beast master, and began to translate.

He’s asking why you’re not sleeping.

Oh? He actually cares about me… Qiao Sang was a little surprised, and answered: “I’m not sleepy.”

With so many wild pet beasts around, she couldn’t fall asleep anyway.

“Armor?”

The Water Carapace Warrior called out again.

Is it because you don’t trust us?

So you understand… With Little Treasure’s translation, Qiao Sang got the meaning. She couldn’t help muttering in her heart, but on the surface she answered sincerely: “If I didn’t trust you, when you were frozen earlier, I would’ve chosen to leave instead of staying here to purify the water.”

The Water Carapace Warrior looked at the human in front of it without speaking.

Then, it turned toward the wild pet beasts and called out: “Armor.”

The next second, several yellow snake-like pet beasts quickly climbed up inside the tree.

About ten minutes later, they came dropping down vertically, each with something clenched in their jaws.

When they hit the ground, they darted over to Qiao Sang’s side as if they didn’t feel pain at all, lifted their heads, and revealed the blue fruits in their mouths.

Qiao Sang froze for a moment, uncertain:m“These are for me?”

They were Water-Boost Fruits. Despite the name, they were one of the rare tree fruits humans could also eat.

Their effect was boosting metabolism, making them popular among overweight people and the elderly. At one point, their price had been driven up to the same as buying a Fire Fang Dog.

“Armor.”

The Water Carapace Warrior nodded.

“Xun xun~”

Little Treasure’s eyes lit up. He floated over to the Water Carapace Warrior.

What about him?

The Water Carapace Warrior ignored him.

“Thank you.” Qiao Sang’s expression was complicated as she accepted the five Water-Boost Fruits.

She didn’t eat them but stored them in Little Treasure’s ring.

Time passed.

The mountain of fruits gradually dwindled and disappeared.

The wild pet beasts didn’t waste any time, they brought over another pile.

Yabao could only train in things like his sensory skills.

In fact, the wild pet beasts no longer restricted their movements, but since his beast master stayed here, Yabao endured it and didn’t leave either.

Her phone had long since died, so Qiao Sang judged day or night by Yabao’s sleeping pattern.

The mountain of fruits dwindled again, then was replenished once more by the wild beasts.

When Lubao struggled to swallow another fruit, Qiao Sang couldn’t hold back anymore and said: “Stop eating, take a rest first.”

“Lu Ai…”

Lubao shook her head firmly, lowered it, and bit into another fruit.

When something delicious is eaten past the limit, it stops being enjoyment and becomes suffering…

“Xun xun…”

Watching Lubao eat, Little Treasure gradually lost all interest in the fruits as well.

Recalling the determination in Lubao’s eyes just now, Qiao Sang opened her mouth but in the end said nothing more to dissuade her.

The gray river water, after repeated purification, turned light gray, then pale gray, then deep blue, and finally a dark, serene blue.

The foul stench in the air completely disappeared.

When the last trace of filth vanished from the river, all the wild pet beasts had tears in their eyes and cried out in excitement.

The water-type beasts without black spots leapt into the river one after another, swimming joyfully.

The ones with black spots stayed on the bank, staring with envy, not daring to enter the water.

“Lu Ai!”

Just then, a dazzling blue light spread across the riverbank, bathing all the water-type pet beasts with black spots, and even the humans who had been warped beyond recognition, their bodies also marked with black spots.

It wasn’t that Qiao Sang hadn’t wanted to heal these people earlier. But Lubao, along with all the wild beasts, had been wholly focused on purification. She hadn’t felt right interrupting.

Besides, using Healing Light on such a wide range consumed a lot of energy. Each time Lubao healed, she had to painfully force down more fruits afterward.

Rather than make Lubao suffer, Qiao Sang had chosen to wait a little longer.

Soon, the blue glow faded.

The black spots vanished from the beasts and people it had touched.

They revealed looks of astonishment and joy, turning toward Lubao, who had released the Healing Light.

“Lu Ai…”

Lubao gave them a weak smile.

At that moment, in the eyes of those water-type beasts, she radiated divine light.

They crowded around her, crying out excitedly, nudging her into the dark blue river.

“Lu Ai…”

Lubao swished her tails weakly but happily in the water.

“Armor…”

The Water Carapace Warrior was also in the river, his usual majesty gone as tears streamed down his face.

Qiao Sang watched the scene, an inexplicable warmth and joy swelling inside her.

Suddenly, a panicked voice shouted: “Ah! Run! Run away! So many wild pet beasts!”

Qiao Sang didn’t even need to turn to know it was from one of the people who had just regained consciousness.

Another voice followed: “Ah! I remember now! I was captured by wild pet beasts, and then they forced me to…”

The voice choked, unable to continue.

“Everyone don’t panic! We were rescued!”

Qiao Sang turned and spotted the speaker, it was the only one in the group who had retained his mind earlier.

There were six people in total who had been captured for water transformation. Nearly all had only just regained their senses.

Panic, confusion, and fear overwhelmed them. Their attention was locked on the crowd of wild beasts and their fellow humans. None noticed Qiao Sang standing a hundred meters away.

“Boss, this is great! Does this mean we can leave now?!” Yuan Jiewen, who had been dazed for who knew how long, his sense of time completely broken, was startled awake by the noise. Looking around, he rushed over to Qiao Sang excitedly.

Mikayla, who had been pretending to sleep, faked waking up and stared at the now-pure river with a strange look in her eyes.

Just as Qiao Sang was about to speak, a ray of warm sunlight suddenly broke through from above, shining straight down onto the dark blue river.

At the same time, the newly conscious humans’ voices carried over: “I want to go back! I want to go home! I’ll never enter the Central Hollow Region’s secret realm again!”

“While the beasts aren’t paying attention, let’s keep our voices down…”

“Where is this? The last place I remember wasn’t here.”

“If I’m not mistaken, this is the Source-Guardian River…”

“You said we were rescued, who rescued us?”

Central Hollow Region, secret realm, Source-Guardian River… Qiao Sang’s pupils shrank sharply.

Back when she’d confirmed that Adinishi would predict the exact location, she hadn’t bothered using a memory-reading beast.

She’d only asked Yabao and the others what places they had seen in their dreams during evolution.

Lubao’s description had been: A clear, clean river. Sunshine. A group of unfamiliar but happy beasts. Humans. And then suddenly, the weather turning cold…

Qiao Sang looked at the dark blue river, the sunlight now cast upon it, the wild beasts playing joyfully, and the few humans restored by Healing Light…

In that moment, she could hear her own heartbeat pounding fiercely.

“Boss, can we leave now?” Yuan Jiewen asked again, seeing his leader silent for so long.

Qiao Sang didn’t answer. She took a deep breath, turned to Lubao, and shouted: “Lubao, are you excited now?!”

The nearby humans fell silent, finally noticing someone else was here, about a hundred meters away.

Lubao heard her beast master’s voice and turned.

Her eyes curved into happy crescents as she gave a delighted cry: “Lu Ai!”

At the same time, her two tails swished through the water.
