The rules of Flame Star truly do not deceive, indeed, most problems can be solved through battle... Seeing this, Qiao Sang felt a swell of joy.
"Zhou e."
"Zhou e."
However, before she could enjoy the feeling for long, the Envoy of Ill Omen suddenly thought of something, its expression turning cautious as it let out two cries.
"Gang qiu."
"Gang qiu."
Gangbao translated in her mind in real-time.
It says: 'Battle is fine, but there are two conditions. First, the maximum rank of the opponent sent out can only be equal to its own. Second, there must be a public notary.'
A public notary? Qiao Sang was taken aback. She then glanced in the direction of Professor Mikayla and Professor Jacqueline, saying: "Both of them can act as the notary."
Mikayla remained silent, indicating her tacit agreement.
Jacqueline looked as if she wanted to speak but hesitated.
She possessed a Fulu Tiantian with the bond power, so the conversation was being translated for her in real-time in her mind. Naturally, she understood every word.
"Zhou e."
The Envoy of Ill Omen shot a glance in the direction of Mikayla and Jacqueline, wearing an expression that clearly said, Do you take me for a fool? and shook its head.
Even if you don't seek a professional notary, you can't just pick someone from your own faction.
"Gang qiu."
Gangbao translated in her mind.
"Then who do you plan to find?" Qiao Sang asked.
"Zhou e."
The Envoy of Ill Omen let out a cry, indicating that it naturally wanted to find a professional notary.
A professional notary? Doesn't that mean going to a government agency and making an appointment? That's way too troublesome... Qiao Sang grumbled inwardly, asking aloud, "Won't that be too much trouble?"
Before the Envoy of Ill Omen could respond, Jacqueline spoke up: "On Flame Star, quite a few people and pets have taken the exam to obtain a notary certificate. You can easily pull one right off the street."
Mikayla finally understood what they were discussing and added: "Exactly. Because you can't walk two steps on Flame Star without running into someone battling, people here love watching battles up close. Consequently, they've all gone to get certified. Notarizing a single battle only requires paying them 100 Alliance Coins."
Qiao Sang: ...
I think watching battles up close is secondary, making money is the real priority here. Earning 100 Alliance Coins just for witnessing a battle after walking two steps, this money is way too easy to make...
Reining in her thoughts, Qiao Sang looked at the Envoy of Ill Omen and nodded: "Alright, go find a notary then."
"Gang qiu."
Gangbao let out a cry, indicating that she would accompany it.
Qiao Sang's mind was in sync with Gangbao, and she instantly understood her pet's thoughts.
Pets on Flame Star could work and get certified just like humans. If humans could be notaries, pets naturally could as well. Gangbao going along would prevent the Envoy of Ill Omen from bringing back one of its own pet acquaintances to act as the notary.
Gangbao really thinks of everything... Qiao Sang marveled inwardly. Looking at the Envoy of Ill Omen, she said: "Let Gangbao accompany you."
The Envoy of Ill Omen cast a glance at Gangbao, raised no objections, and turned to float out the door.
Gangbao pushed open the door and flew out behind it.
Once the Envoy of Ill Omen's figure had vanished, Qiao Sang said with a smile: "It seems this Envoy of Ill Omen is actually quite easy to talk to."
Saying that, she turned to Jacqueline and asked: "Professor, why didn't you just find someone to battle it and resolve this issue before?"
Logically speaking, since this professor had been living on Flame Star for a long time, she should have been much more familiar with these rules.
Jacqueline let out a heavy sigh: "I did let Fulu Tiantian battle it directly before, but he was defeated."
"Fu lu..."
Fulu Tiantian stood to the side, wearing a deeply ashamed expression.
Jacqueline continued: "Generally, battles with conditions are only carried out between the directly involved parties and their pets. The Envoy of Ill Omen probably agreed to your terms just now because the conditions you offered were simply too hard for it to refuse."
So that's how it is... What a shame. If I could battle on behalf of others to resolve conflicts, I'd probably be able to make a tidy sum on Flame Star... Qiao Sang thought to herself.
Jacqueline looked at Qiao Sang, hesitated for a moment, and asked: "Are you confident you can win?"
If this Student Qiao were to have her pets gang up on it, or send out a King-rank pet to completely crush it, winning would naturally be no problem.
But if they were to engage in a 1v1 battle using a King-rank pet, victory wasn't guaranteed. After all, the Envoy of Ill Omen's cursing power was incredibly obnoxious. If Student Qiao's King-rank pet didn't happen to have skills that directly countered the Envoy of Ill Omen, things would be quite problematic.
She remembered that this was a freshman who had only just entered the Imperial Class.
As she spoke, she scanned the pets inside the room.
When her gaze landed on that scarlet pet, she couldn't help but freeze.
Previously, her mind had been entirely focused on the Envoy of Ill Omen, so she hadn't noticed at all that there was actually a pet here she had never seen before.
To think that as an A-rank Breeder and a professor at the Imperial Beast University , she had leafed through massive amounts of books unavailable to the public and had seen many rare or endangered pets. It could be said that there was virtually no pet she couldn't recognize, and yet, she actually didn't recognize the pet before her eyes.
While Jacqueline's mind swirled with countless thoughts, she suddenly recalled that the pet which had left with the Envoy of Ill Omen earlier also seemed to be one she had never seen before...
Just as she was pondering this, Qiao Sang replied: "I'm confident."
If the Envoy of Ill Omen played dirty, like those wild pets in secret realms or on Chaosu Star that would suddenly pop up and unleash curses indiscriminately, she might find it a headache. But in a structured 1v1 battle, she wasn't afraid at all.
While a King-rank Ghost-type pet was undeniably powerful, they all shared the same common weakness: They were far too fragile. As long as Yabao or Lubao stepped up to battle, they could win by directly utilizing an ultra-tier skill to one-shot it.
This wasn't an official competition, the opponent was a wild pet, so there was absolutely no way it would have prior knowledge of her data or be prepared to counter her in advance like tournament opponents would.
She was highly confident she could win this battle.
Just as Jacqueline was about to say something, Little Treasure raised a paw from the side, letting out an excited cry: "Xun xun!"
Let me do this battle!
Ever since he evolved, he hadn't had a proper, serious battle yet!
"Yap yap!"
Yabao wasn't having it. Letting out a cry, he indicated that he wanted to battle as well.
During the month and a half on the starship, he hadn't battled once either. He felt as though it had been ages since he last fought.
"Qing qing..."
A gust of wind drifted by. Qingbao also felt the urge to battle, but recalling her current rank, she ultimately chose not to materialize.
Lubao remained inside the backpack, keeping silent with an air of complete lack of interest.
Tingbao was snuggled tightly against Lubao, already looking fast asleep.
Yabao and Little Treasure stared at each other. Just as Qiao Sang thought they were about to start arguing, Little Treasure floated over to Yabao's side, shaking Yabao's front leg while letting out several babyish, coaxing cries: "Xun xun~"
"Xun xun~"
"Xun xun~"
Let me do it, let me do it, let me battle, please~
"Yap yap..."
Yabao's expression shifted multiple times, but in the end, he let out a heavy sigh like an older brother.
Fine, I'll let you have it.
"Xun xun!"
Little Treasure let out an excited cry, then turned his sparkling eyes toward his Beast Tamer.
Yabao and Lubao have been evolved for quite some time now, so I'm completely at ease when they battle. But Little Treasure only evolved recently... Qiao Sang sighed inwardly, saying, "You've got to take this battle seriously."
"Xun xun!"
Little Treasure nodded his head with a thoroughly serious expression.
Just as the words fell, the door was pushed open.
"Gang qiu."
Gangbao let out a cry at the doorway, indicating that they had found a notary.
