An Envoy of Ill Omen, a King-rank Ghost-type pet with an eccentric personality. Known as an unlucky pet, it possesses natural curse-casting abilities and thoroughly enjoys cursing people just for the fun of it. Even its own Beast Tamer is not exempt from being targeted... As details of the Envoy of Ill Omen surfaced in Qiao Sang's mind, she immediately sensed how thorny this situation was.

When dealing with wild pets, you sometimes don't fear how strong they are, instead, you fear when they are both underhanded and powerful. The Envoy of Ill Omen was a textbook example of this category.

"How did an Envoy of Ill Omen end up targeting you?" Mikayla asked with a frown.

"I previously formulated energy pellets for it." Jacqueline explained with a deeply worried face.

"At the time, it could still afford the fee for them. The second time it came over, it didn't have as much money, so I gave it a discount. I never expected that for the third time, it would want to take them directly for free."

"Naturally, I didn't agree. Ever since then, it has been coming to my shop every single day. With an Envoy of Ill Omen lingering inside, many customers don't dare step foot in here, and my business has completely dried up. I called the police, but the moment they show up, it vanishes without a trace. I've also posted missions to find people to drive it away, but unfortunately, it hasn't yielded much effect. Everyone is terrified of its curse. At first, some people accepted the mission, but after those mercenaries were cursed, no one wanted to take the job anymore."

Mikayla sized her up for a few moments before asking: "Have you been cursed as well?"

Jacqueline nodded, stating with an incredibly bitter face: "Indeed. The Envoy of Ill Omen cast an insomnia curse on me. By now, I haven't slept for seven days and seven nights."

This... Qiao Sang sympathized with this professor for a brief second.

Unless a curse is purified or its duration runs its course, there is virtually no way to bypass it. Even if one had a pet of the same rank utilize Hypnosis on the target, it would still be impossible to put them to sleep.

If the pet utilizing Hypnosis was one or two ranks higher than the curse caster, it might temporarily succeed. However, once the effects of Hypnosis wore off, the curse would still remain, it wasn't a root cure.

"Did you not look for a pet that can purify curses?" Mikayla inquired.

"I did."

Jacqueline sighed, stating, "There aren't many pets capable of purifying the Envoy of Ill Omen's curses. I finally managed to find one with great difficulty, but the moment the purification was complete and it left, the Envoy of Ill Omen returned to curse me all over again. It has completely locked onto me, it's not like I can keep a purifying pet by my side 24/7."

Ghost-type pets adept at curses were incredibly elusive, while pets capable of purifying curses were exceptionally rare and highly sought after. Even as an A-rank Breeder, keeping a purifying pet constantly by her side would require her to pay a steep price.

The ultimate solution was to directly resolve the root of the problem itself.

Jacqueline looked toward Mikayla, feeling thoroughly relieved: "It's a good thing you happened to arrive just in time, Professor. Otherwise, I wouldn't even know how much longer I'd have to suffer over this Envoy of Ill Omen."

Mikayla seemed to think of something and smiled: "This student of mine said she wants to help resolve this matter."

Qiao Sang: ...

Jacqueline looked over, her expression turning incredibly solemn: "Then I shall leave it to you."

She never doubted the capabilities of the Imperial Class students, even if this particular student appeared exceptionally young.

Qiao Sang forced out a smile: "It's no trouble at all."

An Envoy of Ill Omen... Truly a tough nut to crack...

If I had known it was a King-rank pet specializing in curses, I should have used a different excuse to tag along...

I wonder what kind of curse abilities this Envoy of Ill Omen actually knows...

Reining in her wandering thoughts, Qiao Sang asked: "When does the Envoy of Ill Omen usually show up?"

Jacqueline shook her head and said: "I'm not sure. Its arrival times are highly erratic, but it comes here every single day."

It seems I'll have to wait here for a while. I don't know what kind of temperament it has either. Reasonable persuasion is definitely out of the question, and I'm not sure if giving it a good beating will make it behave.

If it pretends to be obedient after a beating only to target this professor again once we leave, that would be highly problematic... Wait, they say battle is extremely prevalent on Flame Star. If I challenge the Envoy of Ill Omen with the condition that it stops harassing this professor, I wonder if it will agree...

Qiao Sang's brain whirred at high speeds.

Suddenly, she felt a wave of icy, ominous energy.

"Pen pen."

Simultaneously, the invisible Spengami let out a low call.

Mikayla smiled: "It's here."

The moment those words were uttered, the lights inside the room suddenly went out, casting the entire space into dim obscurity.

Qiao Sang spotted a humanoid pet roughly 80 centimeters tall. It was predominantly purple with several hollow-looking holes scattered across its body, through which one could see its hollow interior. It had three small fingers on each hand as it drifted in through the doorway.

It floated over to the light switch, extended its hand, and flicked the switch.

The lights clicked back on.

With another press, the lights went out.

Another press, the lights clicked back on.

Another press, the lights went out.

Repeating this cycle over and over, the room's lighting flickered constantly between bright and dark.

If one couldn't perceive the Envoy of Ill Omen's figure, this exact sequence could easily serve as a classic scene straight out of a horror film.

Jacqueline maintained a highly vigilant posture as she called out loudly: "Envoy of Ill Omen, show yourself!"

The Envoy of Ill Omen remained silent, stubbornly continuing to toggle the lights on and off.

"Xun xun..."

Little Treasure looked toward the Envoy of Ill Omen, displaying a thoroughly disgusted expression that clearly screamed, This guy is so childish.

Mikayla shot Qiao Sang a glance that signaled, It's your turn to step up.

Judging by this behavior, it should at least have a personality that can be reasoned with... Qiao Sang let out a silent sigh of relief and let out a light cough.

Hearing the sound, the Envoy of Ill Omen looked over.

One human and one pet locked eyes.

The Envoy of Ill Omen's movements stiffened, its expression turning hesitant.

Qiao Sang looked at it and said, "Stop messing with the lights. Let's have a talk."

The Envoy of Ill Omen instantly put two and two together, its expression turning somewhat awkward. However, it quickly managed its expression, turning the lights back on to reveal its physical form. It let out a sharp cry toward Jacqueline: "Zhou e."

"Gang qiu."

Gangbao let out a cry in her mind, helping to translate.

It says: 'Have you made up your mind?'

Jacqueline clearly understood the Envoy of Ill Omen's intent as well. She stated in a heavy tone: "No matter how many times you come, my answer remains the same. As long as you bring the corresponding payment, I will formulate your energy pellets. Otherwise, there's absolutely nothing to discuss."

"Zhou e."

The Envoy of Ill Omen let out a cold sneer, vanishing from view once more.

However, in Qiao Sang's eyes, it was merely staying in the exact same spot without moving.

"Student Qiao." Jacqueline looked over, signaling that she could make her move.

Qiao Sang turned her gaze toward the Envoy of Ill Omen and spoke: "How about we settle this using Flame Star's battle rules?"

"Zhou e?" The Envoy of Ill Omen realized that the human before it could see its invisible form, letting out a puzzled call.

"Let's have a 1v1 battle. If I win, you stop bothering Professor Jacqueline." Qiao Sang proposed.

"Zhou e."

The Envoy of Ill Omen scoffed.

Why should I listen to you?

Without waiting for Gangbao's translation, Qiao Sang immediately added: "If you win, no matter how many energy pellets you want formulated, I'll cover the entire cost. What do you say?"

"Zhou e!"

The Envoy of Ill Omen's eyes lit up instantly. Revealing its physical form once more, it nodded its head in agreement.
