Qiao Sang’s first thought was: This whole contract termination incident with that Steel Emperor didn’t even happen that many years ago. The kid is still in high school, I thought it was ancient history.

Her second thought was: Looks like this guy has some hostility toward the Steel Falcon species because of what happened to his father. He’s been staring for ages, doesn’t he get tired?

Hulis continued, "His name is Cyril Thompson, a student at Sahel Academy. Apparently, he thinks that anyone who contracts with a Steel Falcon is an idiot."

Qiao Sang blurted out, "So he thinks his father is an idiot?" (T/n: Sassy😆)

Hulis chuckled.

"That, I’m not sure about."

Qiao Sang glanced at him and couldn’t help teasing, "You seem to know a lot about this."

Hulis smiled.

"His father was once a well-known professional beast tamer. When the incident happened, every media outlet covered it. His family was followed and interviewed for a long time, and his son’s face was on the news so many times that it’s hard not to recognize him."

So that’s how it is... Qiao Sang glanced at Gangbao, who remained quiet as if she hadn’t heard anything. She had no intention of storing her back in her Beast Taming Codex.

Other people disliking the Steel Falcon species, what did that have to do with her?

Led by the volunteer, the group of six entered the school gates, passed a fountain, and stepped into a white, classic Western-style building.

"This is where the exchange matches will take place." The girl said as she led them to Row 3 in Section C. She pointed to a few seats labeled Sainan High School.

"Your seats are here."

After the six took their seats, the girl didn’t leave but instead sat down next to Magee.

Looking around, almost every school had a Sahel student sitting beside them.

During the exchange matches, student volunteers from Sahel Academy would serve as assistants for the various prestigious schools, providing full support.

"When does the match start?" Qiao Sang turned and asked.

The volunteer, Alva, checked her watch and replied, "There are 32 minutes left until the official start."

Hearing this, Qiao Sang immediately pulled out her textbook and started reviewing.

Thirty minutes, plenty of time to memorize a lot of key points.

Alva was momentarily stunned, then felt a surge of admiration. To be able to study in this situation, what a talent!

While Qiao Sang was focused on her studies, the audience seats were buzzing with discussions.

"They’re starting the matches right away? I thought they’d give us a tour first."

"This is a tradition at Sahel Academy. They always hold a few matches first before showing us around."

"Why?"

"Not sure, but since their students are always the first to compete, maybe they just want to show off their school’s strength."

"Speaking of which, Mank Academy is here too."

"That’s not surprising. All the top schools from the first three districts were invited this time."

"No, I mean Lavina from Mank Academy. I heard she’s competing this time too."

"Oh my god! You mean that Lavina? The one who just won second place in the Global High School Coordination Tournament and was publicly praised by Lady Dinnie?"

"Yep, that’s her."

"But isn’t she a coordinator? Why is she competing in a team battle?"

"Just because beast tamers who focus on coordination don’t prioritize battles doesn’t mean they’re bad at fighting. They just emphasize aesthetics more. Besides, pets trained by coordinators tend to have stronger synergy and better control over their own abilities."

"That makes sense!"

As the discussions continued, an elderly man with white hair stepped onto the central stage.

He was none other than the principal of Sahel Academy.

Scanning the crowd, he spoke, "Good morning, everyone. Thank you for taking the time to attend this friendly match."

With that, the crowd quieted down.

The old man smiled.

"I’m sure none of you want to hear me ramble on with unnecessary speeches."

The audience burst into laughter.

A school leader with self-awareness? Qiao Sang looked up in surprise.

The principal continued, "So let’s get straight to the point. This friendly match follows the principles of ‘friendship first, exchange first.’ There are no prizes, but every student who competes will receive a VIP ticket to this year’s International Team Tour of the Professional Beast Taming League."

After saying this, he smiled.

"That’s all from me."

Thunderous applause erupted, not because of the VIP tickets, but because the principal truly didn’t waste any time with formalities.

I wish all school leaders were like this... Qiao Sang put down her book, clapping while thinking to herself.

"Yap yap!"

Yabao, caught up in the excitement, started clapping along.

Meanwhile, Gangbao was completely unfazed, quietly practicing her Internal Suspended Breath technique.

At that moment, the lights dimmed.

When they lit up again, the principal was gone, replaced by a black-haired male student in a Sahel uniform.

At the same time, a massive virtual screen lit up above.

Displayed on the screen were the emblems of various schools.

A second later, the emblems began to rotate.

Soon, a red-and-white emblem featuring a book symbol enlarged and hovered at the center.

Then, a female voice echoed through the venue:

"King’s High Academy, please send out your competitor."

Shortly after, a curly-haired brown-haired boy stood up from the audience and walked onto the stage.

Watching this, Qiao Sang suddenly thought of something and turned to ask, "What are the competition rules? Do they just call out a school’s emblem, and then we choose someone to go up?"

"Huh? What did you say?" Alva had been focused on the stage and had only caught that someone from Sainan High School had spoken. She turned to ask again.

Qiao Sang didn’t answer her directly because Magee, the team leader, had already started explaining.

"That’s right. If our school’s emblem appears, we send someone up. The first competitor is chosen by us, but the next two are randomly selected by the system. Don’t worry, it’ll be our turn soon, only 24 schools are participating in this friendly match."

Wait! Something feels off.

Qiao Sang paused for a moment, then asked, "Didn’t we bring five people? If only three compete, then what happens to the other two?"

Magee was also momentarily stunned.

"Your homeroom teacher didn’t tell you?"

Did she? Qiao Sang turned to Hulis, confused.

"She did." Hulis replied.

"She mentioned it after selecting the second competitor. You weren’t there at the time. It was also announced in the group chat, you probably didn’t check it."

Qiao Sang: !!!

Did no one consider the fact that I don’t check group chats?!

Hulis added, "She even tagged you."

Qiao Sang: …

Magee listened in silence and realized that this exchange student from Blue Star had no clue what was going on.

So, he explained, "Here’s how it works: Each school brings five students, but only three actually compete. It’s a single-match elimination. The winners advance to the next day’s round."

Qiao Sang looked puzzled.

"Then why bring five people?"

Magee chuckled.

"It’s a friendly match. The goal is to promote interactions between schools, so having more people helps with that."

Qiao Sang felt a curse stuck in her throat, almost blurting out the name of a plant.

So basically… there’s a chance I might not even get to compete?!
