Chapter - 20: A Happy Marriage 04: The Kirin Delivers a Child, a Sign of Good Fortune

The four people on the shore looked at the three people opposite them, witnessing with their own eyes a murder that was about to happen.

The woman screamed and struggled miserably, but all her resistance was meaningless. However, he was pushed and thrown into the pool by Liu San, the man with the melon-shaped hat.

Liu San was struggling to drag the woman into the pool while speaking.

——"Xiao Lian, don't blame me. Blame yourself for seeing something you shouldn't have seen."

"Gudong——"

Xiao Lian was thrown into the water.

There were two people standing on the shore, one on the left and one on the right. Judging from the shadows, it could be roughly determined that the one standing on the left was the "master" Xiaolian called, and the one on the right was Liu San.

Master - "If this matter gets out, it will definitely bring shame to our Liu family. Watch your mouth."

Liu San - "Yes, yes, master, I am the most guarded person."

Master - "Did Second Madam eat today?"

Liu San - "Alas, she still doesn't eat or drink."

Master - "Okay, then master, I'll go see her."

The shadow disappeared, and Xiaolian, who was thrown into the pond, also died.

"She saw something she shouldn't have seen." Shi Yu muttered to himself, analyzing the plot he had just heard.

As a maid in the Liu Mansion, everything she sees is generally related to her master's family.

Ying Zhuo guessed: "Could it be related to the well that is pressed down by the stone?"

"Maybe." Shi Yu sighed, looking at the giant head that had disappeared in the pool, and knew that they could go to the main hall.

"The Rebirth Mantra has sent Xiaolian away." Ying Zhuo sighed as he watched the pond surface return to calm.

The main hall is where the owner lives, which means that some clues that cannot be found in the front yard can be found in the main hall.

Four people walked on the suspension bridge one by one. This time there was no giant head to grab people and throw them into the river. When the last Leng Xinyu walked across the bridge, the four people suddenly heard a woman's voice coming from the surface of the pool.

Judging from the tone, it should be Xiaolian's voice.

——"Grandma, I helped you do such a sinful thing, why didn't you save me?!"

This voice came from the bottom of the pond. In the darkness, only the swimming at the bottom of the water represented that a soul was once buried here.

"Oh my god, there is something going on between this grandma and Xiaolian." Hu Fang said in a low voice.

Shi Yu turned around and looked at the opening and closing wooden doors facing him, as well as the courtyard with obviously prosperous buildings.

However, on these log-style doors and windows, there were densely packed yellow papers, each with runes drawn with a cinnabar pen.

When the wind blew, these runes rustled, as if sealing the resentful souls inside.

Many times, runes do not bring peace of mind but another kind of panic.

Seeing runes always makes people think that there is some kind of terrifying creature inside.

Shi Yu stood in front of the door and saw a lock hanging on it. He remembered that he had one key left from the bunch of keys he found under the willow tree, and he inserted it into the hole to open it.

"Are we really going in?" Leng Xinyu stood outside the door, resistance written all over her.

"Of course. Otherwise, when the game time is up, we don't know what will appear to kill us." Shi Yu didn't even look at her. He reached out to take off the lock on the door and pushed hard to open the door a crack.

The door scraped against the floor with a harsh sound, and some of the yellow paper stuck on the door fell off and floated around everyone's feet. When people stepped on it, it made a sound like stepping on the corpses of insects.

As soon as you enter, the main hall is about 80 square meters in size. Although it cannot be said to be grand, at that time, this kind of building was something only wealthy families could have.

There are many brass utensils placed in the house, and many ink paintings of mountains, rivers, birds and insects are pasted on the walls. Judging from the brushstrokes, they seem to be the work of masters.

However, the once magnificent Liu residence now exudes a feeling of depression and decay. Thick dust and cobwebs are piled on the tables, chairs and benches, and a few small spiders are still crawling on the spider webs.

"So disgusting." Leng Xinyu patted the dust off her body in disgust, wishing she could separate herself from the spider webs.

There are two tables on each side of the main hall, which seem to be used to welcome guests. The two tables and chairs opposite are obviously slightly different from the other tables, and should be where the host sits.

Shi Yu walked over and took a look. The cushions on the chairs were embroidered with a pattern of a unicorn delivering a child, and even the tea bowls on the table were painted with green glaze of a golden boy.

The two couplets facing the door also seem profound.

Left couplet: "The unicorn delivering a child is a sign of good fortune"

Right couplet: "A house filled with gold and jade makes the family a harmonious whole" Shi Yu.

crossed his arms and looked at the two couplets: "The bowl of pregnancy-maintaining medicine found in the kitchen should have been given to the eldest or second grandmother."

Hu Fang held the teacup, looked at the golden boy pattern on it, and chuckled: "This family is going crazy over wanting a son."

The unicorn delivered a child, and a golden boy was born.

Even the beams and pillars of the house are carved with reliefs of coiled bears.

Bears represent the omen of dreaming about bears, which is generally said to be a good omen for the wife to give birth to a son.

Ying Zhuo didn't understand: "What does it matter whether it's a boy or a girl?"

Shi Yu looked up at him. Ying Zhuo's face was full of confusion and he was not pretending. She felt in her heart that this man was really ignorant of the world. So, she thought about it and explained, "In the past feudal period, almost every family wanted to have a son.

The status of women in the feudal period was relatively low and they were easily discriminated against.

They would be restricted whether they were doing business or going to school. Take the imperial examinations for example. Since ancient times, women have not been allowed to participate in the imperial examinations, and many poor families have only one way to get ahead if they want to take the imperial examinations.

So in that era, everyone wanted to have a son, thinking that having a son would give the family hope in the future.

" Ying Zhuo nodded: "To put it bluntly, it is discrimination and prejudice against women."

"Yes." Shi Yu nodded and looked at him with appreciation.

The young man is very sensible.

Shi Yu sighed: "Don't even mention the feudal society, even in modern society there are still some prejudices. It seems to be something engraved in human nature. When women do something, they have to work several times harder than men to achieve the same success as men."

Ying Zhuo looked at her as if he understood, as if he saw some compassion on her face that was not in line with her age.

She has also been subject to prejudice.

From a conspiracy that indirectly killed her father.

"When I was very young, my father told me how insignificant humans are in the face of nature, and that humans can never conquer nature and can only coexist with nature. Later, my father and I climbed many mountains and cliffs.

Only after seeing the eagles in the vast sea and sky did I realize how small the sparrows in the jungle are." Shi Yu reached out and pinched the dust on the coffee table, saying casually. "But the sparrow did not fly over the horizon.

It could not understand the feeling of looking far into the distance from a high place. It even thought that the eagle was trying to attract attention by sacrificing its own life."

Ying Zhuo listened to her saying this calmly, but he always felt that he saw a very chaotic soul in Shi Yu's body.

She had also been surrounded by prejudice, Ying Zhuoxin thought.

Hu Fang walked to a small door on the west side. He thought the door might be locked, but it opened easily with a slight push.

Hu Fang stuck his head out and saw a horizontal corridor like a tunnel in front of him. Directly opposite the corridor was a closed wooden door with a thick iron chain tied to it tightly. The door was also covered with yellow runes, even more numerous and denser than those on the main hall's door.

"What is this?" Hu Fang stared in amazement.

The three people walked over and looked where Hu Fang's eyes were, and they all felt a chill in their hearts.

Ying Zhuo lowered his head: "There is a 'big thing' in this room."

Shi Yu also felt it, that familiar biting chill that could dig into one's skin.

There was a bowl placed at the entrance of the door. It was filled with white rice and there were even three cigarette sticks stuck in it for offering to gods and Buddhas.

The cigarettes were almost half burned, revealing three cigarette butts still emitting sparks.

The entire Liu Mansion was filled with a weird and strange atmosphere.

Hu Fang scratched his head: "How much evil must this family have done to create so many things."

Shi Yu said: "The letter the housekeeper wrote in his room mentioned that the master had committed too many evils. It might be related to the murder of Xiaolian."

But what did Xiaolian see that she shouldn't have seen, which brought about her death?

Whoosh.

a gust of wind blew from somewhere, and with a loud bang, the door of the main hall suddenly closed tightly as if pushed by an invisible giant hand.

"What's going on!" Leng Xinyu and Hu Fang looked in the direction of the sound and saw the locked door.

The two men rushed over and rocked on the door back and forth, but the entire door did not move at all.

"What does this mean?" Hu Fang clenched his fists and slammed the door.

Shi Yu glanced at them and said, "Don't waste your energy. Once the door is closed, it cannot be opened."

The main hall became their new secret room.

Hu Fang and Leng Xinyu stood at the door, at a loss as to what to do. The two of them desperately pulled at the large wooden door in an attempt to create a slight gap.

But human strength is limited after all. After struggling for a while and finding that the crack in the door didn't move at all, they gave up.

"What should we do next?" Leng Xinyu looked at Shi Yu for help, but Shi Yu did not focus on the door at all. He turned and went to the east side. There was a small corridor on each side, leading to different areas on both sides, but they were locked.

The strange scented white rice and the iron chain blocked their progress. Shi Yu could only walk to the locked door on the east side and look at the lock hanging on the door.

The lock had no keyhole and was about the size of an adult's palm. It looked very delicate and seemed to require a special way to unlock it.

There is a disrupted metal piece on the back of the lock. After gently moving it with your hand, you will find that these small square pieces can be moved like a puzzle.

"Solve this puzzle and you can unlock the door." Shi Yu pointed at the pattern on it. When he looked up and was about to share his discovery with Ying Zhuo, he suddenly saw a faint smile on Ying Zhuo's face, like spring rain melting snow.

He stood behind Shi Yu, his figure was thin and tall, completely blocking all sight of Shi Yu. The man's eyes are long and narrow, and they stretch upward when he smiles, adding a lot of refreshing tones to his perfect facial features, just like frosting sprinkled on salt-baked bread, which can be salty or sweet.

"Xiao Yu, there is a child hanging on your back."

"?" Shi Yu.
