Chapter 4 (Part 2)

When Rodbat heard Jean's report, his face grew serious. He touched his ears a few times and then spoke,

"Does this mean that information could be leaking through the P.G. side?"

"I don't think so. It seems to have originated from Bluefang's network."

"So that's how Ms. Reit figured it out."

Rodbat made a satisfied face.

"What did I tell you?"

At his words, Jean replied, "You said she was the best." and smiled slightly.

Rodbat recognized the rare smile Jean had and asked.

"Do you like Ms. Reit?"

"I do."

"Hm."

Rodbat smiled again.

"I'm glad you recognize my insight. Well then, I'll have to stop that information from leaking out first."

"No, I'm going to use it in reverse to set up a trap."

"In reverse?"

"Yes."

"The work will be done by Ms. Reit too?"

"Yes."

"What about the other general lieutenants? Do you see any clues linking them to Pantin or Igor?"

"No, we haven't confirmed who they came from yet."

"Yeah-"

Rodbat's face darkened, and he nodded.

"It's risky, but it's what we have to do. We have to finish the job before the peace agreement, you see. Ask for whatever support you need."

Jean saluted and left the office. Then, as if waiting for him, Lieutenant General Pantin called out for him.

"May I see you for a moment?"

"Yes. What is it?"

Jean asked, and Pantin pointed to her (*Correction, Pantin is a woman.) office. Jean didn't seem to notice her wariness, and they walked into the office together.

Pantin glanced out the office window and lowered his voice.

"What did you and Captain Rodbat talk about?"

"We talked about the escort."

Lieutenant General Pantin asked, stroking the small scar on her chin.

"Are you a man to be trusted, Jean Olta?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, Sir."

"I mean, do you put your country first?"

"Of course, I do."

At Jean's words, Pantin looked at him for a moment, then whispered low.

"Rumor has it that Captain Rodbat is leaking information to the A.A."

Jean looked at Pantin without flinching. Pantin spoke slowly.

"He's a man who rose to the rank of captain in the war, and maybe he can't forgive the Rotteligos. To the point of joining hands with the enemy."

"Is that a credible story?"

"It's my investigation. Didn't Captain Rodbat say I was a traitor?"

Jean arched an eyebrow, and Pantin laughed heartily.

"I suspect Rodbat had something to do with Ricardo's death. I wonder if Ricardo got close to some evidence of Rodbat's treachery and got caught. In any case, watch out for that old raccoon."

Pantin patted him lightly on the shoulder. She opened the door to her office and said.

"Good luck with the operation, then."

"Thank you for your concern."

Jean replied nonchalantly and left her office. His mind was racing.

"Which one is real?"

For now, I told Rodbat that Seol was involved. I hadn't told Pantin yet, but if something happened to Seol...

'Is it Rodbat's doing?'

Jean felt his whole body tense up.

'I'd  better tell the rest of the crew!'

Jean rubbed his forehead. Fatigue washed over him.

The enemy within. How nauseating and annoying.

'I miss Seol! I want to see her smile, hear her say it's going to be okay, see her pure white skin turn red, and just forget everything in her arms.'

'This is pretty serious!'

Jean smirked and lowered his hand.

'I'll take a long vacation when this is over and never get out of bed,' He thought as he shifted his gait.

This was important, and it needed to be said in person rather than over the radio.

---

Seol didn't bat an eyelid at Jean's words that she might be in danger. After two days of barely sleeping like a possessed man, and working on the hacking program, Seol completed it two days later.

"They will be trapped once they export the file with this."

Seol's words made Minho think for a moment.

The entire Alpha Team was gathered at Leon's house.

Kosaka spoke.

"There's been some movement. There were suspicious people around Seol's house."

"Captain Rodbat, then?"

"Most likely."

Minho said slowly. He looked tired these days, working with P.G., and Slay, who looked twice as tired as he did, said.

"Shall we inform Lieutenant General Pantin?"

"No, it's better to handle this on our own."

At Leon's words, the team looked at each other and then nodded. There is no one to trust but your teammates.

"Any movement from A.A. or R.R.?"

Jean asked, and Kosaka shrugged.

"There's been some minor attacks, but it's been quiet lately."

"We're three days away from the peace agreement."

"I even suggested that we move the site of the agreement, but that was rejected."

Minho said in a quiet voice. Moving the site agreement at the last minute seemed like a fairly effective tactic, but not to the higher-ups.

I guess they can't keep a bunch of people there, and then just move themselves at the first sign of a terrorist threat.

"I hope you understand the plight of your teammates."

"If you understand, you're not the boss."

Kosaka responded with a grin.

Jean said.

"Once we're ready, let's set the trap."

"But if they already know, how will we trap them?"

Jean nodded at Kite's words.

"Yeah, but we’re focused on that. 'Aiming for that in reverse'."

"How?"

Leon asked, and Jean closed his eyes for a moment in thought before speaking.

"We'll dig a trap and say we're sending half of the Alpha Team there, but we won't actually go there, and we'll all guard the cathedral together."

"And if someone shows up there?"

"I'll be there." Leon raised one hand.

"I'm the only one who can handle this myself, right?" His eyes rolled, and his teammates lightly booed. Jean nodded.

"As soon as you realize no one's showing up, let me know and join us."

"Okay."

Playfully, Leon saluted. Seol looked at Leon with unease.

Are they going to let him go alone?

'I wonder if I should be worried about this? As a colleague? Or as a lover?' Seol clenched her jaw, wondering how to separate the two.

At the end of the meeting, where Leon was far more experienced than she was, and had probably been on this kind of mission many times before, Seol turned to Leon and asked.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay on your own?"

"Are you worried?"

"Of course."

Leon watched with amusement as Seol raised her eyebrows, and then he tugged on her cheek.

"It's okay."

"I know."

Seol nodded.

If he was okay with it, she'd have to trust him.

'The plan is simpler than I thought!' Seol thought to herself, organizing her thoughts.

1. Lure the enemy by baiting them.

>If Pantin is the spy, he will take the bait (Leon can confirm).

>If Rodbat is the spy, he will not take the bait.

2. If they don't take the bait (Rodbat is the enemy)

>Rodbat will think the Alpha Team split in half and act.

>The Alpha team will take advantage of that gap.

'It's a simple plan. Hopefully, no one gets hurt!'

Seol thought, and activated the program to bait them. (It said that the peace treaty had been moved to another location.)

If the R.R. saw this and took the bait, they would be able to hold the peace treaty safely.

If not - then...

'Captain Rodbat is really the enemy!'

That theory was hard to believe. But if that were the case, who could explain the suspicious shadowy figures around her house?

The only people she'd told about her program were the Alpha Team and Captain Rodbat.

'I can't believe the spy might be inside Alpha Team!' Seol closed her eyes as she thought that.
