Once the match concluded and it was announced that all contestants whose sections below were green had advanced to the next round, Qiao Sang took Tingbao and met up with Mikayla at the entrance.

Quite a few people passing by turned their eyes toward them.

There were many contestants in the tournament, so not every single contestant who successfully advanced to the next round received screen time. However, the dozen or so seconds Qiao Sang and Tingbao appeared on camera made a lasting impression on everyone.

"Xun xun~"

Little Treasure floated over next to Tingbao, patted his head, and called out, complimenting him on a job well done.

"Lei lei."

Tingbao, however, called out with an indifferent attitude, signaling that he knew he would win the moment he saw that opponent.

"Xun xun?"

Little Treasure put on a curious expression that clearly said, You could tell just from that?

Qiao Sang began chatting with Teacher Mikayla on her end: "If the wind on the field had been a bit stronger today, Tingbao probably wouldn't have won so quickly."

Mikayla said, "A Cotton Seed floating along with the wind is something it can't control itself. If the wind had been any stronger and blown it right out of the field, it would have lost the match anyway."

So floating with the wind is beyond its control... If it were an outdoor competition, wouldn't the risk be huge... Qiao Sang thought to herself.

Mikayla continued: "We were fairly lucky not to run into a well-trained opponent right off the bat."

Even if Tingbao was an ultra-rare dual Electric/Dragon-type pet, his age was right there for all to see. His training had only begun recently, and he was still merely at the stage of familiarizing himself with his skills. If he encountered an opponent that was even slightly well-trained, it would still be very easy to lose the match.

Qiao Sang smiled and said, "I actually hope the opponents we encounter are a bit stronger. That way, we can at least make progress through the battle."

Hearing this, Mikayla felt immensely gratified.

"Mian mian!"

"Mian mian!"

Suddenly, a familiar cry resounded not far away.

Qiao Sang followed the sound and saw the Cotton Seed that had previously battled Tingbao complaining with a face full of dissatisfaction toward the boy with the bowl cut.

"But the opponent was a Dragon-type pet with Electric-type skills! There was nothing I could do!" The boy said with a thoroughly aggrieved face.

"Mian mian!"

"Mian mian!"

The Cotton Seed called out twice in anger, turned around, and departed.

"Cotton Candy, don't go!" The boy shouted as he hurriedly gave chase.

Seeing that he was about to catch up, the Cotton Seed called out to a bird-like pet passing nearby: "Mian mian!"

Without a second thought, the bird-like pet flapped its wings at it.

A blast of wind instantly whipped up, blowing the Cotton Seed into the air along with the gust.

"Cotton Candy!" The boy screamed heart-wrenchingly toward the departing Cotton Seed.

Qiao Sang: ...

"There are plenty of Beast Tamers and pets that part ways after losing this kind of tournament, you don't need to feel any guilt." Mikayla said, having also witnessed the scene.

No, I don't feel guilty at all, I just find it really novel... Qiao Sang griped internally, but spoke with a heavy face: "No wonder the Beast Tamers from Flame Star have such an exceptionally high desire to win in those interstellar competitions."

Saying that, she seemed to think of something, lowered her head, and joked: "Tingbao, if I lose a match in the future, you won't be thinking of parting ways with me, will you?"

"Lei lei!"

Tingbao blanked out at first, then quickly shook his head.

Of course not!

"Lei lei?"

After answering, he called out inquiringly.

Then if he loses a match, would she be thinking of contracting a different pet?

"Gang qiu." Gangbao translated in her mind with a touch of gloating.

Qiao Sang: ...

If I knew, I wouldn't have asked...

"Of course not." Qiao Sang stated earnestly.

"Lei lei." Hearing this, Tingbao crawled up from the backpack onto Qiao Sang's neck, wrapping around it to show his affection.

Qiao Sang: ...

3:00 PM.

The open-air training field.

Tingbao was constantly moving around on the open ground. In the directions he moved, ice spikes several dozen centimeters tall would abruptly descend from time to time to block his path.

Tingbao dodged some of the ice spikes through quick reflexes and movement speed, while crashing headfirst into others.

Lubao kept her eyes on Tingbao's location from a short distance away, helping drop the ice spike obstacles while simultaneously condensing a solid ice armor around her body for her own training.

Qiao Sang sat nearby holding her phone, browsing the official forum for the Contract Synergy Tournament.

This was a habit she had developed throughout her time competing, being accustomed to learning more about potential opponents, even if an opponent had yet to officially contract a single pet.

A thread on the homepage titled #Roundup of Capable Contestants in this Contract Synergy Tournament# caught her attention

Clicking inside to take a look: [Timothy and Poison Lizard Artisan, Nicole and Little Flame Beast, Valery and Ice Bubble Turtle... Qiao Sang and Little Thunder Dragon...]

To think someone actually knows Tingbao's species name... But then again, this tournament is broadcast on a TV channel. Even if the audience doesn't look it up, the commentators will definitely introduce it when the footage airs...

Qiao Sang scrolled through the comments below: [I counted, and there are eleven Mid-level pets participating in this tournament. The top three definitely won't have any spot for Low-level pets, so you can remove any names from the list of capable contestants that brought Low-level pets.]

[That's not necessarily true. It's not like there aren't examples of Low-level pets defeating Mid-level pets nowadays.]

[Those are basically all pets that have already been contracted. In this tournament, none of those wild pets are contracted.]

[I saw two wild Dragon-type pets competing. At a lower tier, a Dragon-type pet should be able to jump a rank, right?]

[The Algae Dragon can. Its body size is already close to a meter; it clearly stayed in the Low-level stage for a long time. The other one with the Electric attribute won't do, its body size is only that small, it probably hasn't been out of its egg for long.]

[Don't underestimate that little thunder dragon just because of its small size. The Beast Tamer who brought it to compete is incredible, she looks only in her teens, yet she's already a D-rank Beast Tamer. If she still has a contract slot for Little Thunder Dragon, she'll probably be a C-rank Beast Tamer very soon.]

[Poster above, how do you know so clearly?]

[I registered for this tournament too. Right at the beginning, I was standing right next to her and asked her directly. Also, she's an alien from Blue Star.]

[Holy crap! Someone from Blue Star?!]

[I think this scoop is real. You can't look up that Little Thunder Dragon with an ordinary Pet Identifier at all, you have to use the interstellar edition. The data retrieved says it's a pet from Blue Star.]

[Who is this contestant you're talking about? How come I didn't see her in the match?]

[At the 10 minute 09-second mark. Don't mention it.]

When did I ever tell the person next to me that I was a D-rank Beast Tamer? Qiao Sang was completely bewildered.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Xun xun~" Little Treasure, who was weaving through a series of black holes, twitched his ears and dived into one of them.

The next second, a black hole appeared right at the doorway.

Little Treasure emerged from the black hole and swung the door open.
