Xu Gehung asked, “When are we going in?”
“We’re still waiting for one more person. Once he arrives, we’ll go.” Qiao Sang replied.
Mikayla, pretending to be unaware of the details, asked casually, “What kind of Beast Master is he? What level? What’s his role in this?”
“F-rank. Fifteen years old. Name’s Guo Ruiqi. Still a student.” Qiao Sang’s answer was brief and clear.
“Our main objective this time is to enter the Secret Realm and help him find his pet beast that was captured.”
Over the past few days, the Beast Master of Lele Seed had called her several times. After their talks, Qiao Sang had a better grasp of the situation.
Mikayla maintained her quiet and aloof persona and didn’t probe further.
Qiao Sang, however, turned to her and asked, “Why did you take this mission?”
It was true that items from other planets were more valuable, but the person before her was a B-rank Beast Master, someone who had surely seen countless rare treasures. To accept this mission so easily, without even asking about the details or risks, seemed a little too quick.
Mikayla said evenly, “I was planning to enter Secret Realm No. 53 anyway. I need something from a super-stellar region, so I took it.”
Qiao Sang froze for a moment, then frowned slightly.
“You’re entering Secret Realm No. 53… for what purpose?”
Her only reason for forming a team was to find a reliable partner for this mission. If her companion had their own agenda that could delay finding Lele Seed, she needed to reconsider teaming up.
Crap, wrong excuse… Mikayla realized Qiao Sang’s expression was suspicious and quickly recovered her cold front.
“That’s my private matter.” She said smoothly.
“But don’t worry. I’ll only act during rest breaks. I won’t delay your mission.”
“That’s fine then.” Qiao Sang smiled.
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
No, you totally did. Mikayla thought silently.
“Xun xun~”
Little Treasure reappeared stealthily beside his Beast Master.
No wonder he hadn’t sensed anything wrong earlier, this wasn’t his master’s real teacher at all. That explained why he couldn’t find any flaws.
After a short while, Qiao Sang’s phone began vibrating.
She checked the screen, the caller ID read: Secret Realm No. 53.
Scanning the area, she quickly spotted a teenage boy with a hiking pack, holding his phone to his ear. Beside him were two adults, clearly his parents, carrying several large bags.
Qiao Sang hung up and walked toward them.
“Guo Ruiqi.” She called.
The boy turned, froze briefly, then noticed Mikayla beside her. He hesitated.
“Beast Master Qiao?”
Mikayla: …
Seriously? You couldn’t tell from the voice?
Qiao Sang coughed lightly.
“That’s me.”
Guo Ruiqi blinked in shock.
His mother reacted first, quickly saying, “It’s just that you look so young, so he got confused.”
His father nodded rapidly.
“Yes, yes, that’s right!”
Then he smacked his son lightly on the head.
Young? She looks my age! Guo Ruiqi screamed internally.
Not ‘young-looking’, I actually am young… Qiao Sang thought dryly, but didn’t bother explaining her real age. She simply said, “Since you’re here, let’s get going.”
Mother Guo’s put down a large bag and handed Qiao Sang a smaller one.
“Senior Qiao, please take care of my son. We prepared some treats inside, your pet beasts can snack on them during breaks.”
The box peeked out from the bag, its packaging beautifully crafted.
Senior Qiao? Qiao Sang froze for a moment, then waved her hands quickly.
“No, no, that’s not necessary.”
“You must take it.” Father Guo pleaded earnestly.
“It’ll be hard taking our boy into a Secret Realm…”
Before he could finish, Qiao Sang cut him off.
“It’s not just me. Beast Master Xu is coming too.”
Mother Guo flushed.
“Ah, I only prepared one gift…”
Father Guo hurried to add, “Then when you all return safely, I’ll definitely prepare another one for Beast Master Xu!”
Mikayla, keeping to her cold persona, simply said, “I don’t need it.”
The parents didn’t insist further. To them, Qiao Sang was the B-rank powerhouse leading the mission, clearly the one in charge.
“Then please, Senior Qiao, just accept this.” Mother Guo said again, pushing the bag forward.
The whole situation felt eerily like those patients’ families who, after paying for surgery, still insisted on sending gifts to the doctor for peace of mind.
Qiao Sang straightened, her tone calm but firm.
“I accepted this mission, and I’ll see it through. I’ll ensure your son’s safety, you don’t need to give me anything.”
She glanced deliberately at her phone.
“It’s getting late. We should head out.”
Guo Ruiqi slung the bags over his shoulder and hurried to her side.
His mother hesitated.
“Then… what about the rest of the luggage?”
Qiao Sang’s serious look softened slightly.
“I told you, I won’t take-”
“I didn’t mean that.” His mother interrupted quickly, motioning at the pile of large bags.
“I heard Secret Realm No. 53 has a huge temperature difference between day and night, so I packed extra clothes…”
Qiao Sang: …
Father Guo asked nervously, “Is it… okay to bring all that inside?”
No, not really. We’re not going on a picnic… Qiao Sang sighed inwardly but, seeing their pleading eyes, finally relented.
“It’s fine. I happen to have a pet beast that can carry things.”
“Xun xun~”
At that, Little Treasure proudly appeared and flicked his hair.
Yep, that’s me.
“That’s wonderful!” Guo’s parents said gratefully.
Little Treasure removed his storage ring and began levitating each bag neatly inside.
“You have to listen to the two Beast Masters.”
“Don’t be picky about food like at home, eat what they eat.”
“The temperature changes fast, so remember to dress warmly.”
Guo’s parents repeated their advice again and again, eyes full of worry and affection.
They were both Beast Masters themselves, though barely qualified. Neither had ever entered a Secret Realm before. Who would’ve thought their underage son would go before them?
“Don’t worry, Mom, Dad.” Guo Ruiqi said sincerely.
“I’ll listen to Senior Qiao.
The three said their goodbyes reluctantly.
So now I’m a ‘senior,’ huh… Qiao Sang thought with a wry smile as she led the way toward the entrance of Secret Realm No. 53.
Mikayla and Guo Ruiqi followed close behind.
On the way, Guo Ruiqi kept sneaking glances at her.
Honestly, even now, he was still stunned by how young this “Senior Qiao” was.
And then… his eyes fell on Yabao.
That beast looked so familiar. He could swear he’d seen it somewhere before…
At the entrance, teams were gathering. Most were mounted together on flying-type beasts to enter simultaneously.
Qiao Sang recalled what she’d read on the forum: “The landing point in this Secret Realm is random. If we don’t want to get separated, we’ll need to enter while riding the same beast.”
“Understood!” Guo Ruiqi replied firmly.
Mikayla stayed silent, keeping her cold act.
“Yap!”
Yabao jumped from Qiao Sang’s arms and grew in size.
His powerful and majestic form immediately drew attention from nearby Beast Masters.
Several recognized him instantly, whispers, camera clicks, and murmurs followed.
Qiao Sang climbed onto Yabao’s back and said, “Come on up.”
Normally, Yabao disliked letting others ride him, but he understood this was the most efficient way. He stood still, patient.
Once all were seated, Yabao walked toward the portal.
Ripples spread across the shimmering air, then vanished.
---
Inside the Secret Realm.
The temperature changed instantly, now it felt like a scorching summer, over forty degrees Celsius.
Qiao Sang and Mikayla endured it easily, but Guo Ruiqi was soon sweating and peeling off his jacket.
All around, silence. Not a single sound of beasts.
Then...
Dozens of sharp wooden spikes erupted from the ground!
“Yap!”
Yabao reacted instantly, vanishing through teleportation and reappearing a hundred meters above the ground.
He opened his jaws wide and unleashed a spiraling blast of blazing fire.
With a BOOM, the ground exploded, several orange-bodied beasts were flung out!
Terrifying… Guo Ruiqi’s face turned pale as he clutched Qiao Sang’s coat in panic.
Drillfire Kaka? A mid-tier fire-type beast, but the attack just now… was grass-type. The mismatch was strange.
Qiao Sang analyzed quickly, then remembered her supposed teammate.
“Xu Gehung.”
Mikayla took a split second to recall that was her alias, then replied coolly, “Understood.”
She turned to her pet, a blue bird resting on Yabao’s back.
The bird blinked innocently, as if saying, Why are you staring at me?
Mikayla’s mouth twitched.
“Enlarge. Stay alert.”
“Suimian!”
The bird spread its wings, flew aside, and began to grow in size.
But then, silence again. No more attacks.
Qiao Sang scanned the surroundings.
“Can you sense Lele Seed?” She asked.
She’d already learned that Guo Ruiqi’s sensing range was about 112 meters. Since Yabao was hovering roughly 100 meters up, he should be able to sense anything nearby once they landed.
Guo Ruiqi focused… then shook his head in disappointment.
“Nothing.”
As expected… Qiao Sang thought.
The Secret Realm was huge, and a hundred meters was nothing. Finding it instantly was impossible.
Lele Seed was a grass-type beast. Even if a Dull-headed Swallow had captured it, it wouldn’t keep it airborne the whole time. The odds were high it was still on the ground. Searching from below would be better.
“We’ll move on foot.” Qiao Sang decided.
“Got it.” Mikayla said.
“Yap!”
Yabao dove toward the forest floor.
Just before landing, another surge of massive spikes burst from beneath the thick carpet of fallen leaves...
Each one towering twenty meters high!
They shot up in an instant, impossible to dodge.
Just as Yabao prepared to teleport again, a massive golden sword of light swept down from above, slashing diagonally across the forest!
The spikes and nearby trees, spanning dozens of meters, were all cleanly severed!
Moments later, the great trees began collapsing.
Yabao leapt onto one falling trunk and landed safely.
So strong… Guo Ruiqi’s pupils trembled.
This… this is the power of a B-rank Beast Master?!
“Nice work!” Qiao Sang praised.
If not for Gangbao’s timely Holy Sword, Yabao might’ve had to dodge again.
“Gang Zhan.”
Gangbao fluttered nearby and called humbly, meaning the command was perfectly timed.
Honestly, having a synced-mind link like this feels incredible, Qiao Sang thought with satisfaction.
Her thought hadn’t even finished forming, yet Gangbao acted instantly.
Though… it does drain energy fast. She turned to Little Treasure.
“Energy Restorer.”
“Xun xun~”
The little creature pulled out a vial and handed it to Gangbao.
Then Qiao Sang looked to Guo Ruiqi.
“Keep sensing for Lele Seed. The moment you feel something, report.”
“Yes!” Guo Ruiqi said quickly.
Then she addressed Xu Gehung.
“You handle aerial surveillance.”
No response.
Qiao Sang turned her head, and found her cold and calm teammate staring at Gangbao in shock.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
What’s wrong?!
You seriously don’t realize?!
Gangbao’s Holy Sword...
That’s a Super-tier skill!
That made it three of her beasts, all still at the General-level, who had mastered and unleashed Super-tier skills!
Mikayla’s mind was reeling, but after so many recent shocks, her tolerance had grown. Keeping her composure, she muttered, “I was just… surprised that your General-level beast can use the Holy Sword skill.”
As expected of someone my level… she could even tell its rank just by its size. Qiao Sang thought, pleased. She was about to reply but then the ground below began sinking!
The soil turned to quicksand, spreading rapidly!
“Old Qiao!” Guo Ruiqi cried, grabbing her clothes, panic in his eyes.
He’d seen enough shows to know: Powerful Beast Masters were always called “Old [Name].” So “Old Qiao!” it was.
Who are you calling ‘Old’?! Qiao Sang almost snapped but there were bigger problems.
“Hellfire!”
“Yap!”
Yabao teleported to solid ground and slammed his paw down.
The earth exploded.
Blazing magma burst from below, a surge of burning energy.
“Move!” Qiao Sang shouted.
In the next instant, Yabao teleported everyone back into the sky.
Below, the ground convulsed, then came a deafening boom and a beast’s agonized scream.
From the scorched soil burst a massive creature, nine meters tall, its lower half and jaw brown like bark, its head covered in leaves, its entire body made of stone.
Finally, the real attacker revealed itself.
Qiao Sang’s eyes narrowed.
So it shows itself at last…
