Chapter 838: First Arrival at Imperial Beast University

Qiao Sang recalled the fox-type beast she had just seen and indeed remembered spotting a black collar around its neck.  

"It’s a good thing, letting wild beasts be able to live in human society too." Qiao Sang gathered her thoughts and said.

"The Security Bureau has stated that this Disguise Totem has extremely high intelligence, just by seeing it once in battle, it figured out the lightweight miniaturization bracelet’s purpose and how to operate it…"  

The virtual screen switched to a uniformed young man speaking seriously into the camera: "This Disguise Totem is highly intelligent. Now that it has stolen a lightweight miniaturization bracelet, it’s very likely it has already reduced its size and blended into society. Everyone should be extra careful, if you see any suspicious beast, please contact us immediately…"  

A wild beast that could use a lightweight miniaturization bracelet? That intelligence… was on par with Gangbao! After all, Gangbao had once stolen another beast’s identity wristband… Qiao Sang instinctively became alert, pulling out her phone to search for information on "Disguise Totem."  

Soon, the relevant details appeared on her screen: Disguise Totem, Psychic-type, King-level beast. Capable of telepathic communication with a target. Has the ability to transform. When carrying an object, it can take on the appearance of that object’s owner based on lingering traces of their aura.  

Having a lightweight miniaturization bracelet was bad enough, but it could also transform… Qiao Sang couldn’t help but grow uneasy.  

While she was thinking, bits of nearby conversation drifted over: "Which city’s Maofei Building is that?"  

"My friend mentioned it earlier, Gasa City. Has nothing to do with us here."  

"Too bad, I actually wanted to see the Disguise Totem."  

"That’s it? The news is over? They didn’t even say how much the reward for information would be."  

"Why don’t you call the Security Bureau and ask?"  

So it was in Gasa City… Qiao Sang relaxed, regained her appetite, and picked up her knife and fork to cut into her meat.

Borsay Manor, No. 101.  

Bao Bao Attendant, wearing an apron, was in the kitchen deftly washing dishes.

Ye Xiangting, watching TV beside her, casually said, "Why don’t I just leave him here to take care of you?"

"Mom, I didn’t expect Bao Bao Attendant to be so attached to you already."  

Ye Xiangting smiled. 

"Maybe it’s just that I only recently contracted him, so he’s still insecure."  

After a moment, she asked, "When are you going to the school to register?"  

Qiao Sang thought for a moment. 

"Tomorrow, I’ll take a look around while I’m at it."

Qiao Sang got up and went into the bathroom to wash up.  

As she picked up her toothbrush, Little Treasure floated in sluggishly.  

"What’s wrong? Why so down?" Qiao Sang asked.

Little Treasure let out a long sigh.  

Brother Yabao was just too ruthless, he didn’t want to do battle training with him anymore.  

Qiao Sang glanced at him. 

"Weren’t you the one who wanted to be the boss?"  

Hearing this, Little Treasure jumped in alarm, instantly teleporting into the bedroom just a wall away to check if Yabao was still sleeping. Seeing that he was, he let out a sigh of relief, teleported back, and whispered softly: "Xun xun…"  

Actually… he didn’t really want to be the boss anymore.

Qiao Sang and her mother set off for the Imperial Beast University.  

On the way, they passed countless expensive beasts, some of which weren’t even available for sale on the open market.  

Passersby glanced curiously at Yabao and Gangbao, but quickly lost interest.  

The Imperial Beast University had been built here for so long that the surrounding residents were all highly educated people.  

Before long, Qiao Sang saw a massive island.  

The Imperial Beast University was built upon this island, occupying the entire landmass. It was even larger than some cities in certain countries, undoubtedly the largest and most prestigious university on Blue Star, without equal.  

So this is the Imperial Beast University… Qiao Sang took out her phone and snapped a picture of the seemingly endless island.  

"Lu ai…"  

Lubao leapt from the backpack onto her beast master’s head. Gazing at the surrounding sea, she couldn’t help but flick her tail.  

"If you don’t have a flying-type or water-type beast, does that mean you can’t get across?" Qiao Sang asked, lowering her phone.  

"See those water-type beasts docked along the shore?" Ye Xiangting pointed to over a dozen differently shaped water-type beasts. 

"The University arranged for them specifically to ferry students across."  

"Is it free?" Qiao Sang asked after a pause.  

Ye Xiangting nodded. 

"Free. If you’re not a student here, they won’t take you over even if you offer money."  

Qiao Sang looked at her mother. 

"You’ve been here before?"  

Not only had she been here, she’d even been rejected by these water-type beasts when she tried to cross… Ye Xiangting smiled slightly. 

"Of course. You’re going to study here, I had to check things out beforehand."  

Qiao Sang felt a rush of warmth. Reliable as always.  

Ye Xiangting stepped up to a control station near the shore.  

Before her mother could say anything, Qiao Sang understood and placed her ID card on the scanner.  

The instant the card touched the platform, a projection appeared in midair, forming the face of a mechanical-type beast.  

Its green eyes scanned Qiao Sang up and down, then it spoke: "Approved."  

The projection vanished immediately afterward.  

"Xun Xun."  

A water-type beast that had been idle near the shore swam leisurely over and called out.  

Ye Xiangting’s eyes lit up. She quickly took a picture of it and eagerly pulled Qiao Sang aboard.  

The sea breeze was pleasant, the view beautiful.  

Before long, the water-type beast reached the island’s edge and stopped at the dock.  

The Imperial Beast University’s gates were flanked by two towering white spires, the school emblem mounted above. 

On either side of the gates stood statues of the University’s founders and their ace beasts, radiating a sense of long history.  

"Quick, let’s take a photo." Ye Xiangting hopped down from the beast and struck a pose.  

Qiao Sang handed her phone to Little Treasure. 

"Use telekinesis to take the shot, make sure you get the gates in the frame."  

Then she hugged Yabao and stood beside her mother, striking the same pose.  

Lubao remained on her head.  

Gangbao flapped her wings nearby.  

"Xun Xun~"  

From high above, Little Treasure’s eyes glowed blue as he telekinetically held the phone, click, the flash went off.  

At that moment, he placed his claws on his cheeks and made a funny face.  

A minute later, Qiao Sang saw the photo uploaded to her mother’s social feed.  

"The Imperial Beast University is huge…" Ye Xiangting said while taking pictures of the surrounding buildings.  

Qiao Sang lowered her phone and was about to reply...

When suddenly, the space ahead cracked open into a small rift. It grew wider, and the spiked head of a beast emerged from within. 

A secret realm rift?!  

Qiao Sang’s heart skipped a beat. She instinctively moved in front of her mother.  

"Yap!"  

Yabao leapt from her arms, baring his teeth at the spiked intruder.  

Bang!  

A flash of fire streaked past,manother beast, legs braced and wreathed in flame, kicked the spiked head back through the rift.  

Immediately afterward, someone shouted: "There’s a secret realm rift!"  

In the blink of an eye, people swarmed over.  

Star arrays of all colors lit up, summoning beasts of various forms.  

Instead of fear, the crowd looked excited, watching the rift with anticipation.  

Unfortunately, it soon closed.  

The onlookers sighed, chatted briefly, and dispersed.  

Qiao Sang stared, dumbfounded. She stopped a girl who was about to leave. 

"Do rifts appear often here at school?"  

The girl looked puzzled. 

"You’re a freshman?"  

Qiao Sang nodded.  

"Our school was deliberately built in an area of Eagle Country where rifts are common." The girl explained with a shrug. 

"Can’t be helped, great power, great responsibility."  

She added reassuringly, "Don’t worry, within the school grounds rifts are usually predicted in advance and announced. Larger ones are guarded; smaller ones you can just ignore. Most beasts that come out are weak, upperclassmen can handle them easily."  

Qiao Sang’s expression was complicated. 

"Do they appear often?"  

The girl thought for a moment. 

"Not too bad, only about a dozen times a day. Actually, encountering one is lucky, it’s the fastest way to earn points."  

The University has a point system too? Qiao Sang said, "Thanks, senior."  

"No problem." 

The girl turned to leave, muttering, "A whole semester in and she doesn’t even know that…"

"This school having the most rifts… it’s too dangerous." Ye Xiangting said worriedly.  

"It’s fine, don’t worry." 

Qiao Sang replied, "Didn’t that senior just say rifts are announced in advance? And no one here seems afraid of wild beasts. That spiked one earlier was taken out the second it stuck its head through."  

Ye Xiangting paused, then nodded. 

"True. This is the Imperial Beast University, they wouldn’t let students be in danger on campus."  

Even so, she lost interest in taking more photos.  

Qiao Sang went to the appropriate office to confirm her documents and register.  

The person in charge was a middle-aged man with short red hair.  

After reviewing the files, he looked up, eyes gleaming.  

"You’re Qiao Sang?"  

Qiao Sang blinked. 

"Teacher… you know me?"  

"Of course." His face broke into a broad smile. 

"The students might not know yet, but all of us teachers do, you’re the first freshman ever selected for the Imperial Class."  

"Imperial Class?" Ye Xiangting perked up, sensing the special treatment. Her eyes clearly said: Go on.  

"And you are…?" The man asked.  

"My mom." Qiao Sang introduced.  

"Oh, Qiao Sang’s mother." He smiled warmly. 

"You look far too young. I’d love to know how you raised such a genius."  

Ye Xiangting beamed with pride.
