Chapter 54

Yuan Chu slowly awoke from the ocean of fate, unexpectedly meeting a pair of star-like eyes.

After a moment of silence, she abruptly sat up in bed, only to feel a tightening around her waist as a powerful arm pulled her back into an embrace.

"Who are you?" Fei Xiu turned over, his gaze burning as he looked at her.

Yuan Chu's thoughts swung wildly between the truth and wild fabrications. She had no idea how he would react to a robot suddenly becoming human.

If he didn't accept it, would their connection to fate be severed?

"Can I choose to keep it a secret for now?"

Fei Xiu: ... As a suspicious woman who had suddenly appeared in his home and inexplicably engaged in intimacy with him, she still wanted him to keep it a secret?

"If you don’t tell me, then I’ll treat you as my captive." Fei Xiu’s fingers traced her neck.

"I won’t be polite to captives."

"That’s fine. Do as you wish." Yuan Chu replied fearlessly.

Fei Xiu narrowed his eyes: "…Do you know how my army treats captives?"

"Men are sent for labor reform, while women and children are not killed upon surrender." Yuan Chu raised her hands, displaying her complete lack of resistance.

"I surrender; I volunteer to be captured." (T/N: I volunteer as tribute, lol.)

Fei Xiu looked at this fearless woman and realized she genuinely wasn’t afraid of him. Her clear eyes gave him a sense of déjà vu.

He no longer struggled with that question and instead asked, "How did you end up here? Did you bring me back?"

"Yes." Yuan Chu nodded.

"What about my robot?" His home robot was severely damaged and might not be able to return on its own. If it were left behind...

Thinking of this, Fei Xiu's pupils constricted, and he involuntarily tensed.

"It’s in the garage."

Fei Xiu relaxed slightly and gave her a deep look before rolling out of bed. He was only wearing a pair of sleep pants, his bare torso covered in scars, fierce yet fit.

He reached out a long arm and pulled Yuan Chu up.

"Come with me to take a look."

His gaze lingered on her long legs for a moment as he grabbed a robe and wrapped it around her, covering most of her figure.

Fei Xiu held Yuan Chu's hand tightly and headed straight for the garage.

Several mechanical beasts patrolled the estate. When they saw the two of them, they merely glanced over before losing interest.

Fei Xiu found it strange that the woman beside him have the freedom to enter and exit the estate.

Why didn’t the mechanical beasts react to her? They should have maintained basic vigilance and hostility toward strangers until he gave clear orders.

Yet, it seemed that this woman was already a part of the estate.

The damaged mechanical beasts were all stored in the garage. Fei Xiu scanned the area and found his robot in the corner.

Its body was left with only the upper half, energy completely depleted. The originally smooth and shiny metallic surface was now dented and pockmarked, looking like a pile of scrap metal.

Fei Xiu hurried over to examine its condition, relieved to find that the core wasn’t severely damaged.

He skillfully retrieved materials to prepare for repairs but then paused, frowning at the materials in his hands.

The explosive force wasn’t particularly large; if it had been made of mecha metal, it wouldn’t have been destroyed like this.

Fei Xiu felt it necessary to equip the initial model with better-quality metal armor to prevent such incidents from happening again.

The initial model had taken on most of the damage for him; with just a slight misstep, she could have been blown to smithereens.

To Fei Xiu, the initial model was not just an assistant robot but also his partner and mentor.

She took meticulous care of his daily life and provided significant help in mechanical manufacturing.

No matter what, he didn’t want anything to happen to her and didn’t want to lose her.

Fei Xiu charged the initial model first, then contacted Sakri to help order metal materials.

After finishing these tasks, Fei Xiu turned around and found that the woman who had been standing beside him had vanished.

His gaze sharpened as he strode out of the garage. Just as he reached the living room, he immediately caught a whiff of a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen.

Fei Xiu looked up through the glass door and saw a slender figure bustling around the stove.

Her long hair swayed gently with her movements, and the loose robe wrapped around her exquisite figure exposed only half of her well-proportioned calves.

Her bare feet lightly touched the cool tiles, looking delicate and beautiful.

"Are you done? Come eat!" Yuan Chu turned her head with a bright smile upon hearing the commotion behind her.

While waiting for the robot to be repaired, she could live here in her human identity for a while, raising her closeness with the child of fate and preparing for future revelations.

Fei Xiu looked at her sparkling eyes and inexplicably thought of his robot. That subtle sense of familiarity surfaced once again.

Why did this woman’s presence seem so natural? Entering his home, sleeping in his bed, using his kitchen… Was she going to bear his children in the future?

"What’s your name?" Fei Xiu sat down at the dining table, planning to interrogate her thoroughly.

"Yuan Chu." She directly used her real name, the implication obvious.

"Yuan Chu?" Fei Xiu completely failed to connect her with the robot. Growing up in a scientific world and having fought on the battlefield, he had never harbored surreal fantasies.

"Is there anything else to say about your identity and origin?"

Secrecy is not an option; he can't be completely in the dark about his woman.

After thinking for a moment, Yuan Chu said, “You saved me, so just consider me here to repay that debt.”

Fei Xiu furrowed his brow, searching his memory but finding no information related to this woman.

Yuan Chu added, “You’re a soldier who has fought in many battles and saved many people.”

Fei Xiu reluctantly accepted this answer. He and his comrades had indeed fought bravely on the front lines, saving a good number of civilians; perhaps this girl was one of them.

However, that still didn’t explain how she managed to breach the defense system, enter the manor silently, and leave no trace.

“How did you get in that night? Why were you in my room?” Feixiu asked directly.

“What’s your relationship with Bessa?”

His suspicion was not unfounded.

Yuan Chu's appearance was too coincidental, Bessa had just mentioned wanting to buy his child, and shortly after, he was drugged and ended up in bed with her.

They hadn’t used protection that night, and he had no idea how many times they had done it; if he was unlucky, she might already be pregnant.

Fei Xiu’s expression changed slightly, and he lost his appetite, pulling Yuan Chu into the room.

He took out a small medical scanner and began to scan her abdomen. The results showed everything was normal, with no anomalies.

Looking at the data on the screen, he wasn’t sure if he should feel disappointed or relieved.

“I have no relationship with Bessa.” Yuan Chu replied to his earlier question.

“And you can rest assured, I won’t get pregnant.”

Fei Xiu shot her a glance.

“Your body is very healthy; if there were no protection, getting pregnant isn’t impossible.”

Why should he feel relieved that she wouldn’t get pregnant? Did she think of him as such an irresponsible man?

“Do you want me to get pregnant?” Yuan Chu had traveled through several worlds without leaving behind a child.

Her luck was insufficient to ensure the continuation of offspring; if she forced a pregnancy, the child would likely be discovered by the Heavenly Dao and erased once she and the child of fortune left that world.

Unless… unless she could help the child connect with another child of fortune.

Feixiu feigned indifference.

“If you really got pregnant, I would definitely take responsibility.”

“Yeah, I understand. Good luck.”

Good luck in accumulating fortune; perhaps there was a chance to conceive a child.

Fei Xiu: Good luck with what??? Are you hinting at something indescribable? Woman, show some restraint!

“Where do you live? Should I take you home?” He asked casually.

“If you don’t mind, can I stay with you for a while?” Yuanchu asked sincerely.

Fei Xiu: “...If you want to stay, then stay. I’ll prepare a guest room for you.”

“No need to bother; I can just sleep with you.”

Most of the rooms in the manor were used to store equipment, so there weren’t any guest rooms available.

Fei Xiu stared at her for a while, leaned closer, and spoke in a low voice: “Are you sure you want to sleep with me?”

“Yeah.” Yuan Chu replied with unshakeable calm.

“Don’t think I’ll just be sleeping simply.”

“As long as you’re happy.”

Her gaze was clear, without any ambiguity or seduction. For her, there wasn’t much difference between simple and complicated sleeping; it was just a matter of exertion.

The girl’s pure gaze, as if she completely trusted him, focused solely on him.

Fei Xiu had to admit, he was moved...

The materials to repair the robot would take a few days to arrive. Fei Xiu seized the time to assemble mechanical beasts, modify weapons, and enhance defenses.

What surprised Fei Xiu was that Yuan Chu was also proficient in mechanical engineering, and her skills were not inferior to his.

The two collaborated seamlessly. Yuan Chu knew the layout of the house, the locations of materials, and the arrangement of parts like the back of her hand.

Because their interactions were so natural and comfortable, Fei Xiu unconsciously let his guard down and failed to notice anything unusual.

In the morning, while Yuan Chu was cooking in the kitchen, she suddenly sensed that the robot was starting up.

She closed her eyes, splitting her consciousness to enter the robot's body.

“Unit One, are you okay?” Fei Xiu's voice sounded in her ear.

The robot's eyes lit up with a blue glow, emitting a familiar electronic voice: “I’m here, Master.”

“It’s good to know you’re alright.” Fei Xiu reached out to pat her head.

“I’ve ordered a batch of metal materials for you. I’ll help you rebuild a sturdy body soon; just hang in there for a few more days.”

“Okay, thank you, Master.”

“By the way, we have a new member in the house. Let me introduce you.”

Fei Xiu stood up and walked to the garage door, calling out, “Yuan Chu, can you come over for a moment?”

Yuan Chu: ... The child of fortune is introducing the robot version of herself to her human version, this unexpected turn of events is truly unimaginable.

Pulling Yuan Chu in front of the robot, Fei Xiu naturally placed his arm around her waist: “Unit One, this is Yuan Chu, my... housemate.”

Yuan Chu & Unit One: …

Fei Xiu: “Why aren’t you two talking?”

Yuan Chu: “...Hello.”

Unit One: “...Hello to you too.”

The situation was both comical and embarrassing.
