Chapter 4 (Part 4)

The Pleiades Cathedral is located close to the border of the two countries of Karbalaya and Rotteligo.

During past wars, wounded soldiers from both sides were accepted and treated equally here.

There is also a famous story of people telling soldiers not to shoot at the cathedral even while everything around is being devastated.

So it was only natural that it became the site of the peace agreement.

The square in front of the cathedral was already packed with people, and there was barely room to move. Everyone was waving flags, singing, and cheering.

"There are so many people."

Slay said in a tired tone. Everyone was in civilian clothes, buried in the crowd, scanning their surroundings. Only P.G., and Minho with him, were in uniform.

"I don't see anyone doing anything unusual."

Kosaka said in a low voice. They all wore ear mics.

"Good thing I wasn't there."

Kite, waiting with his rifle on the roof of a building, muttered while looking down at the crowded square.

"No radio chatter, over."

There was silence at Jean's words, and then a familiar face caught Kosaka's eye. Kosaka spoke quickly.

"Suspect Balthazar spotted. North side of the square, clock tower, three o'clock."

In an instant, tension spread among the agents. Minho, waiting in front of the cathedral, turned to Alex.

"When will the president arrive?"

"In half an hour."

Alex replied and picked up her radio.

"P.G., notify all agents. Alert level one activated."

A chill ran down her spine. She wasn't looking at the cathedral but at a nearby building.

"Keep the cathedral at the alert level. Don't provoke the suspects. If a gun goes off in this crowd, it's over."

At Jean's words, Seol stopped fiddling with the program. "Understood."

She stared at the screen where her teammates' vital signs were displayed. Even in this situation, everyone's heartbeats were calm.

'Awesome!'

Seol looked at the screen in admiration, but the next moment, all communication was cut off.

"Huh?"

Surprised, Seol sat up.

'Jamming?'

Wondering if they'd cut all communication frequencies, she tried calling out to the crew a few times on her radio, but all she could hear was crackling.

She checked her screen again, but she still couldn't connect with the others.

"Lady, this is Lady of the Alpha Team, over. Leader, Fold, Wise Sage?"

Seol tried calling each of their nicknames, but only crackling white noise came through.

Seol took a deep breath and tried to manipulate the program, but it was going nowhere.

"Maybe there's some kind of communication jamming nearby?"

Lain was also confused and fiddled around the program with panic, but there was no way it could have suddenly picked up radio waves.

'What should we do?'

Seol's main weapon is hacking.

With the radio waves blocked, she feels completely naked.

'Let's get to the rooftop!'

Seol unfolds her handheld antenna, and maybe, just maybe, she can get a signal.

The team is scattered through the crowd, and there's no communication going around.

Feeling compelled to do something about the situation, Seol grabbed her tablet and antenna from her side.

"I'm going to go up there and extend the antenna."

"I'll help too."

"No, I need you to stay here and keep an eye on things. I can't control all the systems in the cathedral from my portable PC."

"But individual actions-"

Lain hesitated, and the door burst open.

"Are you all right?!"

"Lieutenant General Pantin."

Seol's eyes widened. She hadn't expected her to come running up here. Pantin looked at the antenna on her side and asked,

"Are you going to use that?"

"Yes."

"No, let's go to my van. The van has a satellite antenna, so it'll be better than that makeshift thing."

"Yes!"

Seol's face brightened. Pantin pushed the elevator button.

"It's parked in the basement."

Seol quickly stepped into the elevator. Pantin then asked.

"You hacked into the P.G. network, didn't you?"

"What?"

Seol replied in surprise, goosebumps forming on her skin.

'How did Lieutenant General Pantin know that?'

She had only told Captain Rodbat-

Seol clutched the antenna tightly. The next moment she spun around and tried to hit Lieutenant General Pantin with the folded antenna, but there was a powerful impact and everything went dark.

---

Jean pulled out his earpiece and held back the urge to throw it.

Suddenly, Seol was unresponsive. His connected teammates noticed the change. But they couldn't run to Seol with a terrorist in front of them.

Jean plugged in his phone. It didn't take long for the signal to pick up.
