Chapter 16

-----

Yuan Chu stood quietly in the night, appearing to float entirely outside the battlefield. Yet every single Evolver, every mutated beast, and even every blade of grass and tree in the area were under her absolute control.

Through Su Mo's Telepathy, she linked the mental consciousness of every Evolver together, weaving a mental network for information sharing to maximize the team's total efficiency.

The Evolvers suddenly realized that these mutated beasts weren't as formidable as they had imagined. Their weaknesses, mistakes, habits, and attack routes were laid bare before their eyes, allowing them to fight with effortless precision.

Unanimously aligned against a common enemy, free of distractions, and operating in flawless harmony, the fight became intensely exhilarating.

The previously bleak atmosphere evaporated, replaced by a surging, unstoppable will to fight.

We can survive this. We will definitely survive!

"On the left!" An Evolver called out in warning just as another stepped in to block a beast charging from that exact angle.

"Target its underbelly!" An Evolver flipped a beast onto its back, and another instantly closed in to deliver the finishing strike.

An Evolver raised his weapon and fired straight toward a teammate. The teammate didn't flinch or dodge, he smashed a beast charging into his melee range with a single heavy fist, just as a bullet grazed past his temple, driving back another beast sneaking up behind him.

Everyone seemed to instinctively understand each other's intent, pulling off textbook team plays without needing a single word of communication, it was as if divine intervention were guiding their hands.

This battle, packed with brilliant highlights at every turn, sent the live stream chat into a frenzy.

πŸ’¬ This is way too hype!

πŸ’¬ I wanna join them so bad! Damn it, why didn't I head to Strange Stone Canyon this time?!

πŸ’¬ I've never seen a fight executed with such effortless mastery. If we could coordinate like this every time, we'd dare to raid Pandora City itself!

It wasn't just the live stream audience, the people on the battlefield felt it even more directly, their minds thoroughly blown.

What kind of god-tier ability is this? Isn't this way too absurdly overpowered?!

They couldn't help stealing glances at Su Mo, who was standing nearby. Was Telepathy really this absurdly powerful?

Su Mo maintained an expressionless face: Don't look at me, I'm completely baffled too.

The real powerhouse was standing right beside him, her gaze scanning the entire battlefield before locking onto a specific coordinate.

Intuiting her signal, Huo Yin instantly unleashed a wind blade, launching it toward a patch of empty space thirty meters away. A split second later, a Space-Rift Butterfly flew straight into the path of the wind blade as if delivering itself into a trap. The force of the wind blade far exceeded Tali's Ghostly Qi, instantly slicing the butterfly into pieces.

πŸ’Second one.

The message echoed in everyone's minds. At first, many were confused, but when Jiang Pengfei blew a third Space-Rift Butterfly into slag with a single rocket launcher strike, realization finally dawned on them.

πŸ’Third one.

Someone was actively hunting the Space-Rift Butterflies, and pulling it off with total success!

Space-Rift Butterflies were widely considered one of the hardest mutated beasts to hunt. Their sensitivity to energy was hyper-acute, the moment someone began channeling energy to attack, they would teleport away and hurl another mutated beast in their place.

Yet just now, they had watched with their own eyes as a Space-Rift Butterfly was blown away by an ordinary rocket launcher.

πŸ’¬ Am I seeing things? Did someone just hit a Space-Rift Butterfly? And the guy who pulled it off was that chubby mechanic?!

πŸ’¬ Is his marksmanship really that slick?

πŸ’¬ Must be pure luck, right?

However, facts quickly proved that luck had nothing to do with it.

Tali struck again, landing a direct hit on another Space-Rift Butterfly. Mental Confusion took effect, the butterfly vanished on the spot, reappearing a second later beside a mutated beast and dragging it right out of the battlefield with it.

πŸ’¬ Fourth one.

πŸ’¬ Holy crap, a two-for-one!

πŸ’¬ What just happened? That Space-Rift Butterfly literally portaled straight into the trajectory of Tali's attack!

πŸ’¬ Same with that chubby guy earlier. He clearly just launched a rocket into empty air, and a second later a butterfly popped out of nowhere to take the hit!

πŸ’¬ What is going on here? Can some expert explain this?!

Right at that moment, Huo Yin shifted his stance, dodging a spatial teleportation attempt from a butterfly. With a flick of his wrist, a cluster of blue flame wrapped around another butterfly materializing from the side.

Engulfed in flames, the butterfly fled in a panic, trailing a streak of blue light across the night sky before scattering like fireworks.

πŸ’¬ Fifth one.

πŸ’¬ Jesus, are Space-Rift Butterflies really this easy to kill? A wave of the hand and another one bites the dust!

πŸ’¬ If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it.

πŸ’¬ If Space-Rift Butterflies were this easy to kill, Spatial Source Cores wouldn't be so rare.

πŸ’¬ How on earth are they doing this?!

πŸ’¬ Prediction, it's absolute prediction!

Finally, a top-tier expert in the chat saw through the trick.

Predicting the location where the Space-Rift Butterfly would teleport in advance, they timed their attacks perfectly so the butterflies had nowhere to run.

Wait, can Su Mo's Telepathy predict opponent movements too??? Isn't that WAY too broken?!

πŸ’¬ It's not Telepathy. Absolutely not Telepathy.

πŸ’¬ If it's not Su Mo, who else could it be?

The audience closely analyzed every fighting Evolver, cross-referencing and comparing them one by one in an attempt to uncover the person with predictive foresight.

As the number of Space-Rift Butterflies steadily dropped, the count of mutated beasts dwindled alongside them, shifting the tide of battle in favor of the Evolvers.

Thanks to Yuan Chu's special guidance, the members of Huagu Team performed exceptionally well, even their support members played vital roles. Huo Yin and Tali served as the main carries of the field, combined driving off or killing seven or eight Space-Rift Butterflies.

When Space-Rift Butterflies died, their corpses usually collapsed into an alternate space, leaving behind very few Spatial Source Cores. This was one of the reasons Spatial Source Cores were so extremely scarce. Yuan Chu had no intention of letting anyone other than Huo Yin claim them.

By the time the butterflies were reduced to just twelve, someone in the live stream chat finally took notice of Yuan Chu.

Throughout such a fierce fight, Yuan Chu was the only person who hadn't engaged in combat from start to finish. Even when mutated beasts drew close, she hadn't shifted her stance by a single millimeter.

She stood quietly off to the side, silently watching everything unfold. Subtle wisps of airflow circled around her feet, forming an almost imperceptible ring. This was clearly not a natural weather phenomenon, but the result of active energy fluctuations.

Yet she showed zero signs of launching an attack, so what kind of power was she using?

Several Evolvers already had suspicions taking shape in their minds.

The final Evolver hiding within the mental network was her!

The guide directing everyone's combat, predicting the enemy's moves, and serving as the true key player deciding the outcome of the entire battle!

πŸ’Tenth one.

After the tenth Space-Rift Butterfly was slain by Huo Yin, the remaining butterflies finally began to scatter and retreat. The chaotic battle slowly stabilized, leaving only the Tier 10 Kui-Rhino as a massive headache.

Given their current strength, killing it was out of the question, but escaping wasn't an option either, they could only drag out a stalemate against it.

The Evolvers were frustrated, and the Kui-Rhino was equally enraged. The fight had dragged on for half an hour, yet it hadn't managed to crush a single human. Its rage was boiling over with nowhere to vent. Then, after an Evolver accidentally jabbed it in the rear, it completely snapped.

Flames gathered in its eyes as its entire body flushed bright crimson. Opening its massive, blood-red maw, it prepared to unleash an earth-shattering roar.

Yuan Chu's eyes narrowed, and Tali's attack landed instantaneously.

Mental Confusion! Hallucinatory Illusion!

A Space-Rift Butterfly froze in mid-air, then abruptly teleported, reappearing directly above the Kui-Rhino's head and dragging the beast into a spatial conduit alongside it.

ROAAAR-

A monstrous roar echoed as if echoing from the abyssal depths, causing space itself to distort violently for tens of seconds before finally settling into silence. One could only imagine the destructive force that roar would have carried.

Had it not been warped away in time, at least half of the people present would have been crippled by the shockwave.

The crowd couldn't help wiping away cold sweat, inwardly counting their blessings. Turning their heads toward Yuan Chu, their eyes filled with shock, wonder, and deep gratitude. Who could have guessed this low-profile girl with almost zero presence was actually a hidden final boss!

With the Kui-Rhino gone, the Evolvers finally held complete initiative over the battlefield. All that remained was cleaning up the mess.

Yuan Chu lowered her eyes, the dark gleam within them receding as the mental network linking everyone dissolved.

The moment the mental link severed, everyone felt the immediate shift. Combat was no longer effortless, and teamwork lost its seamless synchronization, or more accurately, their coordination crumbled back to nothing!

Everyone felt as though they had instantly plummeted from god-tier masters back to sluggish low-level weaklings. Everything felt off.

"Su Mo, don't stop! Give us another round!" An Evolver couldn't help shouting.

"Damn it, I suddenly feel like I don't know how to fight anymore."

"Ahhh, Master Su Mo, please enable VIP mode for us!"

Su Mo: ...If you think you can do it, go ahead. I certainly can't.

Using his ability far beyond his tier had left his mind thoroughly exhausted, yet his mood was immensely uplifted. Yuan Chu had shown him his future development path, as the central hub of a team, his presence was truly indispensable.

πŸ’¬ Mental linking, battlefield prediction, dedicated healing... Huagu Team's support squad is terrifyingly strong...

πŸ’¬ First time seeing support players completely outshine the main attackers.

πŸ’¬ Jealousy is turning me ugly.

πŸ’¬ Master Su Mo, our team has stockpiled a massive stash of Mental Source Cores. If you join us, we guarantee to focus all our resources on training you.

πŸ’¬ Yuan Chu is the big boss's woman, no chance of recruiting her.

πŸ’¬ 30 Breeding Source Cores! Healer, would you consider joining us?

πŸ’¬ Our team is packed with supplies and full of beauties, good food, good drinks, pure luxury. Come check it out!

---

Having recovered from their shock, the live stream chat began shamelessly attempting to recruit them.

The group still finishing off the remaining beasts naturally had no idea what was happening in the live stream, but this battle was bound to go viral globally before long.

Huo Yin pocketed two Spatial Source Cores, then swept through the battlefield looting corpses, securing a plentiful harvest.

He left the remaining Source Cores for the other Evolvers, having no intention of hoarding everything for himself.

After tidying up, Huo Yin walked over to Yuan Chu. Looking up, his expression suddenly shifted, a Space-Rift Butterfly was quietly creeping up on Yuan Chu from her right!

There was no time to shout a warning. Huo Yin slammed his palms against his wheelchair handles, leaping into the air and rushing toward her in a flash of speed.

Yet he was fully sixty or seventy meters away, there was no way he could reach her in time.

Seeing the butterfly draw closer to Yuan Chu, the surrounding space began to warp.

Huo Yin's eyes turned blood-shot, a surge of murderous intent exploding within him.

Just as his panic peaked, Yuan Chu casually raised her hand, pinching the attacking Space-Rift Butterfly between two fingers. The warping space instantly snapped back to normal. The butterfly flapped its wings frantically, struggling between her fingers like a trapped beast, completely stripped of its spatial ability and unable to escape.

Yuan Chu lifted the butterfly to eye level, her dark pupils peering straight through its eyes to look at the person spying from the other side.

[Get lost.]

A single, casually uttered word caused the other party's consciousness to be instantly ripped from the Space-Rift Butterfly. A sharp, excruciating pain wracked his brain, and he violently spat out a mouthful of blood.

Although Yuan Chu couldn't easily use her true powers, establishing a bond with the Child of Luck turned a two-meter radius around her into her absolute domain. No one could use an ability within her domain without her permission, especially a mental ability.

The opponent had endured until now before making his move, showing considerable cunning. Unfortunately for him, he had picked the wrong target.

"Chu'er, are you alright?" Huo Yin reached her side, his tone laced with suppressed fury.

"I'm fine." Compared to the blood-soaked Evolvers around them, Yuan Chu was as pristine as a little princess.

"This Space-Rift Butterfly?" It was Huo Yin's first time seeing someone catch a live Space-Rift Butterfly with her bare hands. Yuan Chu had shattered his understanding of what was possible yet again.

Yuan Chu glanced at the butterfly still struggling between her fingers and replied calmly, "Let's keep it as a pet."

Huo Yin: "...Okay." Whatever you say.

Still... how on earth do you keep a pet butterfly that can teleport at any given second???

-----

Yuan Chu: Others walk dogs and cats, I walk a Space-Rift Butterfly. One step across the world.

Huo Yin: I only have one condition: take me with you!
