Chapter 3 (Part 2)

"Nope. I'm fine."

"Then let's go somewhere else, shall we?" Jean asked at Seol's determination. Seol nodded.

"Let's go then," Leon said, taking the shopping bag the employee handed him.

Seol was about to say that she didn't have anything in mind next, but then she saw that they were going up to the 88th floor.

She stopped after buying two more dresses on this floor. At this rate, the price tags would only get more expensive the higher they went.

The last one she tried on was a bright coral-colored dress with several layers of chiffon and a lovely skirt.

"Then let's go downstairs." Seol nodded, delighted at the idea of going downstairs. Leon pressed the elevator button for the 65th floor.

Seol frowned at the floor level shown beside her. "I'm not gonna buy anything anymore."

"But you can't wear shoes with a dress, so I'll buy you matching heels."

"You can stop buying them."

"That's not an option."

"What?"

"I said earlier that you can buy whatever you want, so feel free to buy whatever you like, Seol." Leon declared, and Jean continued.

"No pressure, it's not like we're going to take it back."

"Wow, that's sweet." Leon chuckled.

"Don't you think it's really weird that I give you a gift and you do the same for me?" Leon said, grabbing her hand and stepping out of the elevator. (T/N: Sorry, I didn't understand this part T-T)

Leon and Jean took both of her hands and put her in a princess-like position as they walked to the new floor. Seol felt quite awkward.

"I think you'll look good in those heels." Leon pointed to a pair of nude-colored heels. They weren't very high and had chunky heels, the shape was simple, with no embellishments. Seol thought she could wear it everywhere.

"Yeah," She replied, "And if they're nude, I can wear them everywhere else."

"Welcome." A man cheerfully smiled as he greeted the group.

"Can you show me the size of those?" Leon pointed to the heels, and the employee asked Seol to sit down and brought them over.

When the employee tried to put them on, Leon pushed him away. The male employee was embarrassed but compliantly handed the heels to Leon.

Leon knelt on one knee in front of Seol and pulled off her shoe. Seol was embarrassed and didn't know what to do.

Suins were a mix of genes from several animals, each expressed differently. Thanks to this, Seol had no sweat glands on her feet, but she still felt a nagging worry that her feet might stink.

"You seem to care a lot about your girlfriend." The male employee said.

"Yeah, I do care a lot about her." Leon tilted his head and gave Seol a wry wink before pulling off her shoes and slipping the heels on.

"What do you think? They seem to be the right size."

"Yeah, they are."

"Let's try the other one on."

"Uh, I'll take it off."

"No." Leon skillfully slipped her shoe off and offered her the other heel. Seol looked down at the crown of his(L) head and felt like stroking it for some reason.

And so she did, Seol ran her fingers through Leon's hair. It was light and silky, like a child's hair. Without realizing it, she stroked his ear and his ears perked up.

"Are you flirting with me in a place like this?" Leon laughed, then stood up and held out his hand.

"Try walking, Seol." He said, and she took a few steps with his help.

"Are they okay?" Jean asked.

"Yeah, they're a good fit."

"Then, how about this style?" Jean asked, holding out another pair of heels, this one is not quite as high, but with a bit more embellishment than the ones she was wearing now.

"Those are nice, too." As she tried them on, Seol felt the stares around her. Passersby and other female customers in the store were glancing their way.

Suddenly, it occurred to her, Is this what it was like to have gossipy eyes staring at her?

"Gossiping eyes." Seol squinted and looked at Jean and Leon. The two men, who had been seriously looking at her heels, looked up at her gaze.

Leon gave her a wry, 'Why?' look, and Jean cocked his head and gave her a 'Is there something you want to tell me?' look.

These two are really good-looking. Good-looking, and that's not all, even their physical body is in the top five percent, no, one percent.

"Well, I'll take these two," Seol said.

"Okay, madam. Then, madam, are you going to just wear these? They go with your dress, don't they?" The male employee said, pointing to the pair of nude-toned heels she was wearing, and Seol nodded.

The employee handed her the shoes she'd been wearing and the embellished heels Jean had recommended, all wrapped up nicely. Jean paid and grabbed her shopping bag.

"Okay, then let's go get something to eat. You're hungry, right?" Leon questioned, and Seol nodded.

They had been shopping for two hours already. Who knew changing clothes could be so much work?

'But it's fun.' Most of the fun is because of the two of them (L & J). 'I can't believe someone bought me all these clothes. Is this what it's like to have your boyfriend buy you clothes without spending your own money?

"This is the perfect time. I was afraid we'd be late." Leon spoke up, and Jean looked at his watch and nodded. The three of them walked up to the restaurant they'd made reservations at.

It was an ornate, medieval-style restaurant. Seol's mouth dropped open as she took in the plush carpeting and the gilded chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, the marble and wood furniture gleamed along as well.

After confirming their reservation, the staff escorted the three to their room. One side of the room had floor-to-ceiling windows that gave them an unobstructed view of the night skyline.

"This is amazing." As soon as the staff closed the door behind them, Seol jumped out of her seat and clung to the glass.

"You like it?" Leon asked, and Seol nodded, looking back at him with a reminiscent face. Seeing the twinkle in her eye, Leon felt a sparkle in his heart.

"The food here is delicious, so take your time while you eat. Do you want me to take a picture of you?"

"Is that, uh, okay?" She wondered if it was too tacky, but Leon shook his head.

"Sure. I paid for the room to do what I want to do." Seol handed him her phone, and Leon snapped a picture of her against the night skyline.

"Take a picture with me too." Jean requested.

"Yeah?" Leon thought it was weird, a photo with Jean, but Seol took a side-by-side selfie with him(J).

"So that's what you mean. Seol, take a selfie with me, too." Leon said, and they took a selfie.

Ding. Then there was a knock on the door. The three of them moved like lightning, as if in sync, and quickly sat down. Once seated, Seol burst out laughing, and Leon lightly chuckled.

"Come in."

The staff pushed the trolley in and set the food down. Seol barely managed to stifle a laugh.

"By the way," Seol started as they began to eat.

"What are the things you need to do as a bodyguard? I'm not trained in that aspect."

"You mean work?" Leon spoke up, and Jean slowly asked. "How much do you know about the P.G.?"

"Not that much, other than it's the Presidential Guards."

"The Alpha Team isn't suited to be bodyguards. We're for solving cases, not escorting." Leon interjected, and Jean nodded in agreement.

"Even if our roles are to be bodyguards, we're more of a restraining chain for R.R. We are tasked to catch any secret information that comes out of them and liaise with P.G."

"Oh? So, it's not my problem? Then I'll be doing a desk job for this mission." Jean shook his head at Seol's comment.

"No. You'll be working in the field with me."

"Really?" Seol's eyes widened. Her gold and blue pupils glowed like fireworks.

Jean thought they looked like twinkling stars as he nodded. "Yeah."

This mission was where Jean's worry came from. Seol hadn't been training with them for a long time. And the image of Ricardo's dead body kept coming back to his mind. There was also the issue of a traitor in the team.

"So you've seen the president up close, then? I've only seen her on TV."

Jean smiled at Seol's reaction. It was like untying a tangled thread in his mind. Leon cut his steak into large pieces.

"She looks like any of us, a Karim." (L)

"So she's got round-the-clock bodyguards?" (S)

"Yeah. We're gonna put one of our kids on the P.G. team. Who do we put in?" Leon muttered, and Jean thought for a moment.

"Minho?"

"Our wise sage? Well, that's okay. At least he won't break his arm fighting with the P.G. kids."

"Junky won't go twice." Leon nodded at the reference to Slay.

"I wouldn't go if I almost got killed either." (L)

"So when did you work with P.G.?" (S)

"A year ago. There was a terrorist threat in the R.R. at the start of the peace agreement. Public opinion was generally bad that time."

"I see..." Seol swallowed hard, she hadn't heard anything about it on the news or other media, so she didn't even know it had happened.

---

Karims usually ate two or three times as much as a human, so the steak in front of the three of them was quite a lot. Seol alone was able to devour a 1-kilogram steak.

After finishing the meal with a glass of wine, Seol rubbed her stomach. She lamented, "I ate too much."

Jean stood up from his seat. "Let's head back early since we have to work tomorrow."

"I think so too."

"Oh, yeah." Seol stood up as well. Should she go to Jean's place or Leon's? Or should she invite them to her place?

Seol struggled a bit with this problem, as she put on her coat the staff politely gave her, Jean said,

"We'll take you home."

"My home?"

"Yes." Seol was stumped. Come to think of it, she hadn't cleaned up when she left in the morning. Maybe she should have left the vacuum cleaner on. She grumbled as they got into the car.

---

"Are you just going to leave?"

"Huh?" Leon rolled down the window. Seol blushed and said,

"Maybe you two should get some coffee inside."

Leon's eyes narrowed at that, then he smiled. "You're going to have a rough day if we do."

From across the seat, Jean cut in, "That's not the reason why we went on a date today."

Seol was confused. Leon stuck his hand out the window. Seol's hand was placed on top of his, and he lightly kissed it.

"Do you 'want' to do it? I'll give you a lot of trouble next time, but for now, go get some rest."

Seol pulled her hand away, her cheeks burned red. Leon gestured for her to go inside, and she hesitated, then bowed and walked into the building. Jean's car pulled away as soon as he saw her go inside.

'It was a real date.' No impure intention, just a pure date. Thinking about it, it suddenly felt like a waste.  Seol alternately looked at the shopping bags in her hands, then sighed and went back to her apartment.
