Chapter 2 (Part 2)

Jean lightly brushed a strand of snowy white hair from Seol's face, who had fallen completely limp and asleep.

Leon pulled a cigarette out of habit, put it in his mouth, and sighed. "I forgot to light it up."

"Don't light it up, your lung capacity will go down."

Leon smirked at Jean's comment. His amber eyes glowed in the darkness as he chewed on the cigarette.

"Why?" (L)

"What?" (J)

Leon asked while double-checking that Seol was completely asleep.

"Why did you ask Seol to date you?"

"What about you? You hope for her to date you because you like her, no?" Jean asked without changing his expression.

"That's true."

"I asked her because I like her too."

"You think?"

"I've been fighting alongside you for years." Jean thought for a moment, then said.

"If I see her sleeping with someone else, I'm going to bite them to death."

Leon's eyes narrowed at Jean's words, then he burst out laughing. (This means that if the other person Seol wanted to sleep with is some rando, Jean's ending them but since it's Leon who was fighting beside him for years, he got saved from ☠️ )

"You almost killed me?"

"Yeah."

"Well, now that I've thought about it, I've never seen you so excited. I thought you'll just slam the door after seeing Seol going into estrus and go home after all of that." Leon remembered how Jean came in and grabbed him by the hair and shook him off of Seol.

"That was your assumption," Jean said and then continued.

"I think I care more about Seol than I realize. Maybe it's because she's Ricardo's successor."

Jean's tone is objective, like that of a third-party observer, even as he speaks of his feelings.

At the mention of his deceased former teammate, Leon swallowed a sigh and smirked.

"Well, it doesn't matter where it started, you grew to like her." (L)

"Yeah. And what about you?" (J)

"I told you that she was cute from the start. Besides, silver hair and heterochromia eyes are just the kind of things I'm into." Leon added with a smirk.

"Plus, I don't have a hobby of hiding my feelings. I'm not going to back down crying while the one I like and my team leader try to get it on."

"I guess so," Jean said and lay down beside Seol.

Seol made a small noise and burrowed into his arms. Jean gently kissed her on the forehead.

"Oh, why are you turning over there?" Leon tugged on Seol's hand, and Jean squinted, baring his fangs.

"You're gonna wake her up."

"You're too much-" Leon grumbled in a small voice and tightened his grip on Seol's hand.

-----

"Presidential Guards? I thought they were a separate team not for this kind of mission?" asked Kite, puzzled. Kite, the team's sniper, had long black hair tied back into a ponytail.

The Alpha Team's haircuts were far from the regular military as they often disguised themselves as civilians during special missions.

"We're going to coordinate with them."

"With the P.G.?" Asked Kosaka in an impassioned tone, and when Jean nodded, he pressed his forehead and sank back into his seat. "Ugh, I hate them,"

After a long pause, Seol hesitantly asked. "If they're the P.G., aren't they veterans too?"

Kosaka laughed toothily.

"They are, but when it comes to terrorists, we're even more professional. They're all so whiny- wait, team leader, please don't tell me their team is in command. They almost blew up Slay's chopper the last time we cooperated, didn't they?" The mentioned victim shrugged.

Jean snapped his fingers. "Well, we're having cooperation. That's all."

"Aaaaah-" Kosaka Yun had his hand run through his red hair. His eyes narrowed at the corners- in short, he was looking short-tempered as his face made him be.

"We've been through this before, so let's just ignore them this time, because I don't want to die twice," Slay said in a low voice.

With blue-gray hair and white skin, Slay liked sunlight, despite the pale impression he gave. It's just that his skin doesn't burn easily. Because of that, it was convincing when he came to dressing up as an addict, and that's where he got most of his assignments. Hence the nickname 'Junkie'.

"I know." Jean shrugged.

Leon smiled cheerfully. "Since it's a joint cooperation, each of us is in charge of a part of the operation, so who's our other collaborator?"

"R.R." Jin's words quieted the team. Minho, who had been quiet until now, spoke up.

"Revenge Raven?"

"Yeah. The peace agreement doesn't make sense. We have to get back at Rotelligo for Karim's blood that they had spilled." At Jean's words, Minho swept a hand through his auburn hair and said like a sigh.

"But that's not necessarily R.R.'s logic."

"Yeah." Jean nodded. His triangular ears stood out like horns in his dark hair, and he looked nonchalant as if he could handle anything.

"You're not the only one who's not happy about this peace agreement," Seol seriously said.

"But even so, we can't let a mishap go off in the middle of the peace agreement."

"That's right." Slay slowly nodded.

Jean watched his teammates chatting away and remembered Rodbat. Rodbat, who had pulled Jean aside for this assignment, spoke quietly. "I think there's a leak from our side."

"From our side? From the Alpha team?" Jean's sharp voice made Rodbat turn his head to look at him.

"Ricardo's death is no accident. There's a leak from somewhere. Rather than the Alpha Team, I have my eyes on Pantin and Igor." Both were Bluefang's superiors.

Bluefang had seven teams in total, and the Alpha Team was the only one with a direct connection to Rodbat. The other six teams were organized in groups of three and led by Pantin and Igor.

Both of them were Lieutenant Generals. Giving two people with such a high rank to a small organization showed how highly the military superiors thought of Bluefang.

Captain Rodbat spoke slowly. "Among them, Lieutenant General Igor. I'll use him as a liaison to the P.G."

"Double duty?"

"Yes." Rodbat nodded, and Jean saluted.

-----

As Jean thought about it, he was sure there were no traitors among the Alpha team. They'd been working together for years. There was no Karim in here who would sell Ricardo out, so he decided to let the Alpha Team know.

"Seol."

"Yes."

Jean held out his palm and swept it lightly from side to side, and Seol fiddled with the computer. The blinds lowered, blocking out all radio waves, and creating an enclosed space that was completely for top-secrets.

"I think we have a traitor on our side."

Tension filled the room, and a different vibe from before was created. Leon's amber eyes grew darker.

"And Ricardo's death...?"

"Yes."

"Shit!" Kosaka gritted his teeth.

"You don't mean there's a traitor in the Alpha Team, do you?" asked Seol, causing everyone to flinch and look at Jean, who shook his head.

"Thank God-" Slay said, relieved.

"Captain Rodbat said it was either Lieutenant General Igor or Lieutenant General Pantin. He assigned Igor to be our liaison with the P.G."

"Ugh. This is killing me." Leon exclaimed, his shoulders slumping. But his eyes aren't smiling at all.

Kosaka said, "The hard missions are always ours."

It wasn't a complaint, but a declaration that said this mission would never be handed over to anyone else.

Jean nodded.

"If we find the one who killed Ricardo, we'll catch him."
