It was three days later when they saw that Healer again.

He was lying in a pitted, cratered crater, covered in dirt and staring blankly into the sky. Traces of battle were scattered all around, but aside from him, not another soul was in sight.

"What happened?" Huo Yin asked, puzzled.

The Healer responded weakly, "Ran into a pack of elemental beasts."

A flicker of surprise crossed Huo Yin's eyes. Elemental mutated creatures were the rarest among all beast types. What kind of absurd, sky-defying luck did they have to stumble upon a whole pack of them?

"Where are the others?"

"Dead or ran off." The Healer was utterly drained, wearing a look that suggested he had given up on life entirely.

Huo Yin: "Oh. Want to join us?"

The Healer flicked his eyelids open, not even bothering to ask any questions before making an immediate promise: "I'll serve you for three years."

"Five years minimum," Huo Yin raised the price.

The Healer gave him a look that said say no more: "...Fine."

Yuan Chu: ... She had words to say, but couldn't say them

This guy made the exact same three-year promise to every single team willing to take him in, but not a single team had ever managed to survive past three months with him. The last team had it even worse, they didn't even make it past three days.

And yet, believing he had score a great bargain, the Child of Luck happily picked him up anyway.

Washed clean and changed into fresh clothes, the Healer reappeared before the two of them looking completely revitalized.

"My name is Feng Chenxiu. What about you two?" He sported a head of dazzling golden hair, fair skin, and a tall, slender build. He was strikingly handsome, a far cry from someone who looked so thoroughly cursed by heaven and hated by earth.

"Huo Yin. Yuan Chu." Huo Yin gave their names succinctly.

"Where are the other teammates? Out on a mission?" Feng Chenxiu looked left and right, his gaze sweeping back and forth inside the modest space of the hovercar.

Huo Yin: "There are no others. Just the three of us."

Feng Chenxiu asked uncertainly: "...Just the three of us?"

"Yes."

Feng Chenxiu fell silent for a moment before asking, "Is it too late for me to get out of the car now?"

Huo Yin glanced at him. "What do you think?"

"My god!" Feng Chenxiu cried out in disbelief.

"How are three people supposed to survive?!"

"Aren't you a Healer?"

Huo Yin ignored his outburst and countered, "How effective is your healing?"

"Not to brag."

Feng Chenxiu boasted with immediate pride, "My healing talent is second to none. As long as there's a breath left in someone, I can bring them back."

"Alright, give me a treatment." Huo Yin's body was recovering every day, but he wanted to speed up the process.

"No problem." Raising his hand on the spot, Feng Chenxiu condensed energy and cast a healing spell on him.

Huo Yin tensed, his eyes locked onto his every move without blinking.

A gentle surge of energy flowed slowly through his body, repairing internal wounds bit by bit and purging impurities. In just a few moments, a layer of mottled dirt seeped out onto Huo Yin's skin.

"Done."

Withdrawing his hand, Feng Chenxiu declared with supreme confidence, "You can stand up now."

Huo Yin tried to move his legs. However, there was zero response.

He looked up at Feng Chenxiu, doubt written all over his eyes.

"What? It didn't work?" Feng Chenxiu crouched down and pinched Huo Yin's legs. The muscle was firm, the bones well-proportioned, he was as healthy as could be.

"You're not pretending to be paralyzed just to mess with me, are you?" Feng Chenxiu trusted his own judgment.

"I don't have that kind of free time." Huo Yin replied expressionlessly.

"Then what's going on?" Feng Chenxiu scraped a layer of grime off Huo Yin's arm with his finger.

"Look, I even purged the toxins and impurities inside your body. That proves the healing worked!"

Frowning at his gesture, Huo Yin sneered mockingly, "Seems like your healing isn't all that impressive after all."

Now that was crossing the line!

Turning around, Feng Chenxiu cast another healing spell straight onto Yuan Chu: "Miss, try it out yourself and see how my healing spell..."

His voice cut off abruptly, his eyes wide with shock.

A faint glow enveloped Yuan Chu, yet she looked exactly the same as before, not even a speck of grime had been purged.

Impossible! How could a human body have zero impurities?!

Yuan Chu gave Feng Chenxiu a subtle look as he began questioning his existence. In truth, the failed healing wasn't his fault.

Huo Yin's body had already healed on its own and was currently in an incubation stage of evolution, ordinary healing methods were useless on him. As for her physical body, it was the purest existence between heaven and earth, having no impurities was only natural.

Ignoring Feng Chenxiu, who was quietly moping in the corner, Huo Yin went to the bathroom to rinse off and changed into a clean set of clothes.

Catching a casual glimpse of himself in the mirror, he noticed his skin had turned considerably fairer, with freckles, visible pores, and scars completely gone. If it weren't for his beard holding down the fort, he would have transformed from a tough guy into a fresh-faced boy in a heartbeat.

Huo Yin: ... He felt a bit rattled.

Feng Chenxiu's arrival didn't increase their overall combat strength, instead, it spiked their chances of encountering mutated beasts.

Fortunately, with Huo Yin's luck holding down the fort, they managed to turn danger into safety every single time.

Feng Chenxiu soon discovered a tragic fact: Although their team technically had three members, Huo Yin was the only true combat unit, and a half-crippled one at that.

As for Yuan Chu, she was purely there to coast along and leech experience points, leaving him utterly hopeless about their future. To boost their survival chances, he decided to step up as the team's strategist.

That evening, the three sat gathered around the campfire, eating and chatting.

"Have you heard the news?" Feng Chenxiu asked mysteriously.

Huo Yin: "Hmm?"

Yuan Chu kept her head down and eyes lowered, completely uninterested.

"A spatial wormhole appeared in Sector 33. Newcomers should be arriving soon." Feng Chenxiu suggested.

"Should we go test our luck and see if we can recruit a few high-potential rookies?"

Huo Yin: "Mm."

Every year, hundreds or thousands of spatial wormholes appeared across Creation Star in random locations, bringing a steady stream of Blue Star natives over. As long as they survived, they generally awakened superpowers.

Many factions would camp out near wormholes to fight for promising rookies, especially those from their own country.

Huo Yin had already heard about the wormhole in Sector 33 and had planned to check it out in hopes of running into fellow countrymen from the Flower Nation.

"You agree?" Feng Chenxiu hadn't expected Huo Yin to respond so readily, rendering all the deeply moving arguments he had prepared entirely useless.

"We leave tomorrow." Seeing Yuan Chu pack up the tableware to return to the hovercar, Huo Yin operated his wheelchair to float over as well.

"Hey, wait for me!" Feng Chenxiu hurriedly caught up. Walking inside, he saw Huo Yin tying an apron around Yuan Chu's waist, his arms practically wrapping around her entire body. Their overlapping shadows exuded a silent, natural intimacy.

Having been single for over twenty years, Feng Chenxiu silently swallowed this mouthful of public affection, once again regretting that he had boarded the wrong car.

Early the next morning, the three drove their hovercar toward their destination.

As they drew closer to the wormhole, more and more Evolvers appeared around them, all clearly sharing the same goal.

"Look over there! Isn't that the 'Falcon' crew?"

"People from 'Dawn Wind' are here too!"

"Am I seeing things? Is that 'Red Blade'?"

Many renowned teams were recognized by the crowd. Most of their members wore their team badges, a sign of confidence in their own strength, as well as a symbol of honor and belonging.

Huo Yin used to have a badge of his own, but after that incident, he had put it away.
The arrival of Huo Yin's trio didn't attract much attention. They picked an inconspicuous corner to set up camp.

Yuan Chu swept her gaze across the area, counting roughly six or seven teams. Among them, the most famous were Falcon, Red Blade, and Dawn Wind.

Their fame came mostly from combat videos on SkyNet, some even had dedicated cameramen attached to them. Higher fame helped recruit Evolvers and expand their influence. Naturally, this also led to many overrated teams, boasting large numbers, but with average overall combat power.

"Hello everyone! I'm your old pal 'Whistle'!"

A lively voice caught Yuan Chu's attention. The speaker was a green-haired youth controlling a hovering camera, introducing the scene with dramatic flair: "As you can see, we're currently near the wormhole in Sector 33!"

"Based on the changes in the wormhole, it's expected to open in less than two hours. I wonder if any rookies will survive the landing this time!"

"Now, let me give you all a tour of the teams present today!"

The Evolver calling himself Whistle operated the camera from the center, capturing everyone on site one by one.

Members of Falcon, Red Blade, and Dawn Wind received the most attention, with no shortage of star players among them. Every time one was caught on camera, it triggered a barrage of comments in the live stream, half worshipping them, half mocking them. After all, Creation Star was packed with short-tempered Evolvers.

Huo Yin had no interest in showing his face and simply wanted to wait quietly for the wormhole to open.

The camera was about to sweep past their spot, but Feng Chenxiu suddenly stood up and waved glamorously at the lens.

💬 Look over there! In the southwest corner!
💬 What's what?
💬 Holy shit, I found a handsome guy with off-the-charts looks!
💬 The blonde kid?
💬 Ahhh, isn't he way too pretty?!
💬 I remember him! His name is Feng Chenxiu, word is he's a Healer.
💬 He's actually a Healer? How good is he?
💬 He doesn't seem to have a team badge. Is he a wild solo player?
💬 The two people beside him look super unfamiliar.
💬 Huh? Is that guy in a wheelchair?
💬 Cap! Cap! There's a wild Healer over here, go recruit him quick!

Looking at Feng Chenxiu showing off like a peacock, Huo Yin wished he could throw a burlap sack over his head.

Yuan Chu threw Huo Yin a look of sympathetic care.

In the future, Feng Chenxiu would be known as the world's number one Divine Healer, but he also held another resounding title: The world's number one Calamity Master. She wondered if Huo Yin's current luck could suppress his misfortune. If it couldn't, both of them would be harvested by the Heavenly Dao.

Feng Chenxiu was a piece placed by the Heavenly Dao to test the Child of Luck, if he wanted to alter his fate, he had to work hand-in-hand with the Child of Luck.

When Yuan Chu thought of this, she completely forgot to factor in her own luck. The fact that she could develop self-awareness meant she had obtained a stroke of cosmic fortune. When combined with the luck of the Child of Luck, it could produce unexpected miracles.
